  Our server (ftp.riken.jp) has now 10GbE LAN and WAN connectivity

We have now enough rooms for WAN bandwidths.

  In the CentOS 5.3 release, maximum traffic observed was 1.3 Gbps

  We are now tuning TCP parameters to increase performance of
of WAN connectivity for the network research.

  So you can try to rsync from
ftp.riken.jp::centos   (with DVD)
if you like.  But I do not know the bandwidths between China and Japan.
