Yes.  I am afraid so.  I am running e2fsck in non-destructive mode 
and have about a dozen or so bad blocks reported so far.  The Ironic 
thing is that this is a new high capacity drive installed to host 
online backups of other servers.  It is going back to the dealer once 
I complete the diagnostics.
