[CentOS] making a route sticky

New question, but slightly related so I'll leave the subject:

If you have routes that come and go, is there some way to clear
the NAT table to fix the case where a nat association is
already present when a new route through a different interface
is added for that destination?

I've had trouble with this in the past using a 2.4 kernel (didn't
seem to happen under 2.2 and ipchains) and wondered if it is
fixed in 2.6 so that nat associations go away when the route
changes to go through a different interface.
