It is possible to create either an NTFS or FAT32 partition in Windows
XP.

The fdisk output in this case shows that it is FAT32 and not NTFS

Device     Boot       Start      End      Blocks    Id  System
/dev/hda1   *           1        3649    29310561    c  W95 FAT32 (LBA)
