[CentOS] Lost my menu options again - KDE messes with Gnome?

I just do 

useradd testguy -g dom_users # primary group
passwd testguy

and have no problems - but that is a two step process.

I was worried about the '-m' option to use an already screwed up profile
as a template which would continue the issue.
