The CentOS5 file is squashfs not cramfs.
[root at wx1 images]# pwd
/raid/RH/CentOS/5/os/i386/images
[root at wx1 images]# file stage2.img
stage2.img: Squashfs filesystem, little endian, version 3.0, 0 bytes,
7929 inodes, blocksize: 65536 bytes, created: Tue Apr 10 15:58:33 2007
[root at wx1 images]# mount -ro loop -t squashfs stage2.img /tmp/mnt
[root at wx1 images]# ll /tmp/mnt
total 0

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 1726 Apr 10 15:41 lib
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 3 Apr 10 15:50 modules
