Pass "8250.nr_uarts=8" to the kernel to tell it to create more than the default 4 serial ports (add to /etc/grub/menu.lst and reboot). NOTE: the maximum number of UARTs supported by the CentOS 5 kernel (as of 2.6.18-8.1.8.el5) seems to be 32. Cheers, Michael
