I know almost nothing about PAPI, but just wonder if oprofile can do the job. If so, it would make things easier because oprofile is included. If you indeed need perfctr, then please refer to: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel to rebuild the kernel CentOS way. Akemi
