AFAIK the only way to achieve that is to use plain SAS HBA's such as the LSI 2008 family (92xx cards), not raid controllers. this is a representive SAS midplane manual http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/other/BPN-SAS-936EL.pdf it shows failover combinations starting on page 3-3... -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa cruz ca mid-left coast
