my approach would be

checking the contents that came with the distribution

get package names

$ rpm -qa |grep bind


$ rpm -ql $packagename

that list shows files that could be of interest (docs, scripts, init file, sysconfig etc.)


$ rpm -q --scripts bind

also interesting - what is done while installing the package.
