<div>Hi,<br clear="all"></div><div>I encounter a error when installing the latest kernel 2.6.34 in centos.</div><div>Steps:</div><div>1. download source code.</div><div>2.tar -xvf 2.6.34.tar.gz</div><div>3.use the .config file of current system in /boot directory.</div>
<div>4.make ,make modules_install, make install,</div><div>5.reboot.</div><div>6.error:: accur.</div><div>Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while ...</div><div>Activating logical volumes</div><div>  Volume group "VolGroup00" not found</div>
<div>Creating root device.</div><div>Mounting root filesystem.</div><div>mount: could not find filesystem"/dev/root"</div><div>setting up other filesystems.</div><div>...</div><div>After comparing the latest initrd.img and the current system initrd.img . The differnce below:</div>
<div><br></div><div>the currenet system has more modules before excuting the LVM operations. these modules is dm-mem-cache.ko ,  dm-message.ko  and dm-raid45.ko which depends the others. I know the centos 5.5 ' s kernel is 2.6.18. which has dm-raid45.ko module.</div>
