Does
yum -y clean all help?
Also, did you expand the sd before running the update?
Does it happen if you do the update in smaller chunks
(sometimes I need to do this with devices that have 1G of RAM
or less)

after a fresh install, if I do (for example) a yum update, then there seems to be a problem;
I don't know if that is the same error as the one I see in other architectures?
