is it still possible to provision older version of CentOS? New kernel in 7.4 introduced some changes to bond (and their options) and older stable branches of NetworkManager were more happy with 7.3

Well, no and that's the main reason why it *needs* to be the tree that will become the official one : CI is there to test functionality against specific version, so it exists also to show those kind of errors.
