Hi Folks, ich pflege ein Netzwerk mit CentOS5-Server und WIN-Clients. Jetzt ist geplant, Webcam-Überwachungskameras einzusetzen. Möglichst unter Ausklammern der WIN-Clients (also alles über den CentOS-Server). Gibt es Erfahrungen hinsichtlich empfehlenswerter Cameras und eventueller Probleme? Danke Timothy

xen und bridge-networking

Hallo zusammen, ich habe mir xen 3.1 als source runtergeladen und auf einem unserer Server unter CentOS 5 selbst kompiliert. Alles funkt wunderbar, bis auf das Netzwerk. Sobald ich xend starte und somit auch das Skript network-bridge im hintergrund gestartet wird, funktioniert das Networkinterface nicht mehr => keine Verbindung mehr möglich ob vom oder zum Server. Beim starten von xend ist immer die rede von "bridge firewalling registered". Iptables sind sauber und lassen traffic durch. In den Skripten von xen selbst sind keine speziellen Firewallregeln definiert. Bzgl. einer bridging-firewall konnte ich auch nichts finden. Ich weiß gerade nicht wo ich weiter ansetzen soll. Habt ihr evtl. eine Idee? Gruß christopher

Hi Folks, wo werden bei CentOS5 eigentlich die Boot-Meldungen abgelegt. Die /var/log/boot.log ist bei mir leer. Und außerdem nicht mit dem Datum des letzten Rechnerstarts. Timothy

Moin, CentOS 5.1 steht (irgendwo da draußen in weiter Ferne) vor der Türe - und wir würden das wiederholen, was wir zum Release von 5.0 gemacht haben: <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.0/German> - eine deutsche Übersetzung. Noch gibt es kein englisches Original für die Übersetzung, aber das wird in den nächsten Tagen vorhanden sein. Wir suchen also Freiwillige (ich werde mich auch selbst daran beteiligen), die bei der Übersetzung der Release Notes helfen möchten. Dafür dürft ihr euch dann nach dem Release auch CentOS 5.1 runterladen =:) Wer macht mit? Cheers, Ralph

Sorry if you get the mail twice: What still *will* change is the list of packages we add/drop from/to upstreams release. So please keep an eye on that section when translating. The rest of the notes won't change. Hey, guys/girls/creatures from Sirius: The english release notes are frozen now, so we can start translating. You can find the english release notes at <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.1>, where you'll also find links to the pages where the translations will live. Probleme USB-HDD einzubinden

Hallo Leute, habe ein neues CentOS5 aufgesetzt. Alle Updates eingespielt. 32 bit PAE-Kernel. Jetzt wollte ich eine USB-HDD mit 2 Partitionen (1x ext3, 1x fat32) anstecken und benutzen. Die Platte wird erkannt und es wird mir angeboten, diese in einem neuen Fenster zu öffnen. Das tue ich auch. Wenn ich jetzt aber, die Platten sind noch leer, darauf schreiben will, dann bekomme ich in einem Pop-Up-Fenster folgende ellenlange Meldung, mit der ich nun gar nichts anfangen kann: A security police in place prevents this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.HAL.Device Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.hal"). Dazu muss ich sagen, dass beim booten beim HAL-Daemon eine Fehlermedlung kommt - socket kann nicht eingerichtet werden. Fehlerhaftes Argument. Schaue ich aber bei "Dienste" nach, dann läuft der HAL-Daemon anscheinend. Irgend etwas läuft da wohl massiv schief. Aber was????? Welche Infos braucht ihr noch? Danke Timothy

Release Notes: Translation, an explanation and something to translate

Hey, somehow we're always running late with those release notes. But: We have a new idea - living online release notes. What does that mean? We are going to split the release notes and have a very short version on the actual CentOS ISOs - those then point to the *real* release notes on wiki.centos.org and to some other places on the wiki and www.centos.org. The real release notes are going to be on the wiki and can be modified as needed (for example the "Known issues" section could grow during the lifetime of 5.1). And this is also the part where most of the translation has to happen! So attached to this mail are the release notes which go on the Isos. These need to be translated real soon now (today would be great - November 22nd 2007 that is, European time that is). Please send those translations to ralph(a)centos.org. In the meantime we are going to develop longer release notes on <http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.1> - these need to be translated also. And to translate these, all translators need an account on wiki.centos.org. So please create an account for yourself (FirstnameLastname - JoeyMiller for example) and send that account name (not the password!) to ralph(a)centos.org also. I'll add you to the list of people who are allowed to edit translations then. This process can take a longer time, these don't need to be complete when 5.1 comes out. Short summary: Please translate the attached text *as soon as possible* and send the results (please only one result per language) to ralph(a)centos.org. Please send your LoginNames for the wiki to ralph(a)centos.org also - otherwise you won't be able to edit the release notes on the wiki. After that you can begin translating the online release notes. The CentOS team wants to thank you all for the great work you are putting into the release (and have during the last release) - you guys and girls are great. THANK YOU! Perl zerschossen

Hi Folks, ich habe heute meinen Rechner neu aufsetzen müssen (CentOS5) und irgendwie hat es dabei die Perl-Installation zerschossen. Diverse Fehlermeldungen bei Nutzung von Perl z.B. bei Postfix Error in processing, id=05531-01, mime_decode-1 FAILED: Can't locate object method "seek" via package "File::Temp" at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/MIME/Parser.pm line 816, <GEN8> line 117. (in reply to end of DATA command)) (habe dieses obige Problem auch auf der engl. Liste gepostet) oder wenn ich z.B. MIME-Module von Perl installieren möchte Missing Dependency: perl(HTML::TokeParser::Simple) is needed by package perl-Email-MIME-CreateHTML Missing Dependency: perl(Data::Serializer) is needed by package perl-Email-MIME-CreateHTML Missing Dependency: perl(File::Slurp::WithinPolicy) is needed by package perl-Email-MIME-CreateHTML und, und, und... Xinerama auf aktuellem HP dc5700 mit Intel 82Q963/Q965

Servus Liste ich hab im Büro einen neuen PC von HP mit einem Intel 82Q963/Q965 onboard. Ausgeführt ist nur ein VGA Anschluss. Dazu hab ich noch eine Karte von HP reingesteckt die zusätzlich einen DVI-Port ausführt, Typ DY674A: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12008_na/12008_na.HTML. Nun habe ich also einen PC mit einem VGA- und einem DVI-Ausgang, wie geschaffen für 2-Monitor-Betrieb. Denkste, xorg sagt mir folgendes: (II) I810(0): Currently active displays on Pipe A: (II) I810(0): CRT (II) I810(0): DFP (digital flat panel) (II) I810(0): No display size information available for pipe A. (II) I810(0): No active displays on Pipe B. (==) I810(0): Display is using Pipe A Sprich, es erkennt die 2 Ausgänge sagt aber am 2. hängt nichts dran. (Komischerweise aber 2 Stück an pipe A) Hat jemand eine Idee wie ich den 2. Monitor ansteuern kann?
