2 questions- projected date on 64 bit support? and... can you run a 32-bit app on a 64-bit OS ? I just a read a great article on the Opteron vs. Xeon argument at: http://www.samag.com/documents/sam0411b/ Thanks, Dave

ftp ftom outside the local network

I have Centos3.3 installed, vsftpd, apache2, ports 20&21 open on router, firewall disabled at this time : /etc/passwd looks like this --- ftpadmin:x:502:502::/var/www:sbin/noligin uncommented the lines in /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf : chroot_list_enable=YES chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd.chroot_list I can access ftp from within network no problem, but using external ip it will validate login but cannot bring up folders Any suggestions...... DVD set anyone?

Having little problems with 3.3

Hello all, I just installed 3.3. All three disk download ok and when I ran the test on them, all three passed so I thought that the install would go fine and it did. However after using it for about 5 min I have noticed two things. OO does not install by default. When I did a reinstall I noticed that there is not option to even select it. Maybe there is something wrong with my disks, I don't know I just what to see if anyone else is having this problem. The rpms for OO are one the disks they just don't install even with the office packages selected during the install. The other thing I noticed is the fonts in Mozilla. Now CentOS 3.1 and Whitebox 3rc2 fonts in mozilla are great. But CentOS 3.3 I don't know what happen. Like I said may its the disks I downloaded. Has anyone else had or heard of these aliments? yum.conf issue

i just did a fresh install of centos-3.1 i ran yum -y update to get all the latest updates.. when it finished the update... of course the yum.conf symlink was broken... and now i how a /etc/centos-yum.conf /etc/yum.conf.rpmsave /etc/yum.conf-SAVE /etc/yum.conf <---broken symlink which of these files to i create a symlink to for /etc/yum.conf so i can continue to get my updates.

You can grab the Net::SSLeay rpm from here: http://dag.wieers.com/packages/perl-Net-SSLeay/perl-Net-SSLeay-1.25-1.1.el3… Don't use cpan, it will just cause pain... John. no qmake on CentOS-3

Hey, I need, but do not find anywhere, qmake, a program that comes with qt and is normally found in the bin directory under qt. In addition to using CentOS-3 on text-only servers, I am using CentOS-3 as an X desktop distribution (it lookes exactly like RedHat 9 to me). On one of my desktop systems, I want to try eric3, an IDE (integrated development environment) for python. During the CentOS install originally, I chose both the Gnome and KDE options. The installation instructions for eric3 say install qt first, then QScintilla. qt is already installed. QScintilla needs qmake to install, but qmake is not there or anywhere. Is there a way to put qmake under qt where it belongs? Thanks, Rick

Why is RH using such an outdated version of OpenSSL ? I understand that they may have back-ported the fix but I just tried installing Net::SSLeay on a Centos 3.3 box and it wouldn't install, saying that the openssl version was old and suggested I get 9.7b or later? How are you handling this problem? I am resorting to recompiling OpenSSL 9.7d . Thanks, Dave
