Greg, Does this change effect me? My (default) yum.cong files point to mirror.centos.org. Do I need to point at different mirrors? At about midnight Sunday night your time, I was experimenting with migrating RedHat 9 to CentOS-3. When I tried yum check-update, I got an error message that http://mirror.centos.org could not be found. BTW, twice I tried to send this message to caos-mirror(a)casosity.org like you asked, and twice it came back immediately as undeliverable. (I copied and pasted the address.) Rick

mirror.caosity.org change...

sorry for the massive cross-post, but I wanted to make sure that I get everyone that needs to know this. Mirror.caosity.org is having problems keeping up with all of the mirrors. Rsync is a memory hog when dealing with large repositories, and mirror just can't handle it. I am migrating mirror.caosity.org to a new host which should be able to handle the load better. Also, I will be limiting the IP's that can rsync directly to mirror. Only the public mirrors will be allowed to connect directly to mirror.caosity.org via rsync. Expect this migration to happen in the next several days, and please let me and the caos-mirror list know if there are any problems. Hi all, after an uprade to new kernel 2.4.21-15.0.4.EL on my server appears a lot of these messages: EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,17)): ext3_free_blocks: bit already cleared for block 19268224 EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,17)): ext3_free_blocks: bit already cleared for block 19268225 EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,17)): ext3_free_blocks: bit already cleared for block 19268226 I try to rebuild array but at the 12% appears this message 3w-xxxx: scsi2: AEN: INFO: Rebuild started: Unit #0. 3w-xxxx: scsi2: AEN: ERROR: Drive error: Port #0. 3w-xxxx: scsi2: AEN: ERROR: Rebuild failed: Unit #0. I restarted again the rebuild but 3w-xxxx: scsi2: AEN: INFO: Rebuild started: Unit #0. 3w-xxxx: scsi2: Unit #0: Command (f7545c00) timed out, resetting card. Ok, I'm a solid Rock, I try to rebuild again but at the 68% the rebuild failed again.. Of course I checked RAM and HD and all is OK, I also changed the IDE cables. HW proliant ML370 G2 wtih 2 GB RAM 1 controller 3ware escalade 7000-6 2 HD Samsung 160GB RAID1 2 SCSI seagate cheetah 18GB SW RAID1 So, is this a Kernel bug ? Thank You, Maurizio

Hey Nels, I recently (within the last couple of days) updated the FAQ with fresh, up-to-date information. What achitectures are supported? cAos x86 currently and x86_64 (AMD64) soon CentOS-2 x86 only (sorry) CentOS-3 x86 currently and x86_64 (AMD64) soon Get it from the source here: http://caosity.org/index.php?option=faq&task=viewfaq&artid=3&Itemid=5 I was told that AMD64 would be supported "soon". Alternative architecture CentOS 3 builds?

Hi there. Although RHEL 3 is available for several different architectures, CentOS appears to only be available for the i386 architecture. Are alternative architecture rebuilds outside the scope of the CentOS project, or is there some other specific reason for that? If one wanted to rebuild CentOS for, let's say the AMD64 architecture, would that be a difficult process, or is it just something that nobody's yet done?
