Does the nvidia graphic card problem still exist with CentOS-3.3

Will the same problems exist with CentOS-3.3 that existed in CentOS-3.1 regarding the nvidia graphics cards. As I have quite a few, thought I would ask. Kevin Wood.

CentOS-3.3 install went smoothly

CentOS-3 versions 3.2 & 3.3

Hey, I thought I had been paying attention, but I do not know what is going on. On the mirrors, under centos-3, we now have directories named 3.1, 3.2 & 3.3. The CentOS-3 I have been using for some months came from 3.1. The 3.2 directory is dated September 11th and seems to be empty. The 3.3 directory is dated September 16th and has stuff in it, such as rpm's, but no header files for yum. If someone would kindly explain what is going on, I would update the web site with a news item if appropriate. Thanks, Rick

apt repositories

Hi, does anyone have plans on adding an apt repository? I used apt-get with Synaptic RH8 with fedoralegacy.org which made things so much easier to manage compared to yum/up2date. Freshrpms provides some instructions here: http://freshrpms.net/apt/server/ Unfortunately I do not have the bandwidth to offer it myself. btw - does anyone have an idea why up2date says it wants to downgrade after the all the updates completed. posted here: http://caosity.org/pipermail/centos/2004-September/000564.html I hope to get this resolved before rolling out any more Centos machines. thx __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? kernel question

An interesting bug in RHEL 3(which affects CentOS 3) has been bantered around for a while. There are some kernel patches(beyond my scope right now) or some echo statements tht are used(this helped my situation). The newest 2.4.x kernels have these patches incorporated. Would centOS 3 go nuts if i installed the latest kernel from kernel.org? <btw the issue is that the 2.4.xx kernels ahve a tendency to fill up ram with cache..which is normal. The bug is that the kernel then refuses to rlease the cache and instead starts swapping...which i have noticed in my little install here. What i did to fix it as a workaround(noted in the buzilla report here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=89226 is to send the following command at the command line: (echo 1 10 10 >/proc/sys/vm/pagecache) I have noticed this is another RH9 server i ahve access to and will be trying it on that box too as well as my linux firewall.> -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. CentOS 3 updates

I have noticed various RHEL linux notices being posted..I know the CentOS people are busy...I was wondering if CentOS 3 will ahve the corresponding updates available in the next week?(trying to be conservative in my question) -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. Create Distro

Is there a novice level way to produce a distro/copy/whatever of an installation so that I can duplicate it on a new box? Is there a hard drive copy application that can copy linux drives? Beth
