Business software for Linux

I am hoping to find a inventory management program suitable for something like a bookstore or other 1-5 person smb. The software would need to be able to accept inputs from wireless handheld scanning devices for entry into the system. It must also work with their windows based PoS computer. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. php-snmp *UPDATE*

Thank you to all the people that responded. I found a php.spec file for EL3 and modified the php.spec file that came with the php source rpm from the CentOS mirros. Built and installed the php-snmp rpm and it is working great!!! For anyone that would like to have a copy for themselves can find it at http://traffic.wonderwave.net I will leave it up for a week or two so act fast. I also posted the the original spec file, the one with snmp support and a diff file showing the difference between the two. Thanks again to all you helped me out. Dan

how to autoload modules on boot

Hi, I want to autoload ide-scsi.o on each boot. In debian there is a file /etc/modules in which I can iclude the names of the modules that are to be loaded at boot time As I remember in gentoo there was a similar /etc/modules.auto or something ... is there an appropriate place in a redhat distribution or I should write my own rc script? sasoon

Hi, I have just changed OS'es from ES3 to CentOS. Is this the correct list to find out about updates available for centOS? With ES3 I received an update email with the regular and security updates available and would run up2date. Now, I have yum and am not familiar with how updates are sent about centOS. Thanks! PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems

Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img set from Centos 4.0beta2? I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor random characters. Not a good start to an install... Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0? Thanks in advance. -Alan

modprobe and modules not found

Greetings, test server: 1.8 MHz Intel P4 D865PERL Intel MB w/ built in 10/100 NIC, sound etc. I’ve loaded CentOS 3.3 – yum upgraded to 3.4 I am used to “much older” Linux kernel/distributions i.e. like 1.2.13 and early 2.x stuff. I humbly ask why these modules are not found in the distribution. Please point me to where I get them and associated instructions please. cryptoloop enabled losetup package

Hi, I have a legacy AES excrypted file system with a 256 key size. RHEL kernel is cryptoloop enabled but the losetup package is not. It needs additional patch. Does anybody have a patched losetup rpm I could use? Thank you! A. Georgiev

Error unmounting ?

When i shutdown my computer i see the following message: Unmounting file systems: umount2: Device or resource busy umount: /var: device is busy What is the error ??? I install centos 3.4 on i386. Thanks for help

x86_64 timer resolution in ping results

Hi, There seems to be a problem with the timer resolution on x86_64. This is clear in ping results - I don't know if it's just a ping problem or if it manifests elsewhere as well. It does also affect mtr and traceroute times. I guess it's more a kernel issue than a CentOS problem, but is anyone else seeing the same?
