Business software for Linux

I am hoping to find a inventory management program suitable for something like a bookstore or other 1-5 person smb. The software would need to be able to accept inputs from wireless handheld scanning devices for entry into the system. It must also work with their windows based PoS computer. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. DHCPd Config

I've read a number of articles, googled the web for a few months and now attempting at turning my CentOS box into a gateway for the third time. Configured my dhcpd.conf and other related files and all seems to be working, I can have my M$ desktop leasing an ip address and all. The problem is when I want to go out to the internet I keep on getting the Request Timed out error. I'm pretty sure I've followed the manuals to the letter. The hardware is working fine. Any clues or pointers would be very much appreciated. TIA, Joao

mythtv on centos4

Has anyone had any success or failures with installing mythtv onto centos4? Even better, has anyone any prebuilt rpms to do this? Looks to me like centos+mythtv is quite an interesting prospect in the always-on single home server environment. -- Cheers, Tony

Having problems with SSL and Apache on CentOS

I had a RH7.3 box that provided some web services, but the hard drive recently started to throw errors. So I got another drive and built a new system using CentOS4. Unfortunately, there is no one to one as far as Apache since COS4 uses Apache 2 and there is a dramatic difference in the way the config files are done. I have managed to get it to recognize the directory on my other drive after finding the selinux commands to allow that directory to be used. I can get to the startup page if I go through port 80. I also have it redirecting to our main webserver and that works. However, if I try to go to secure http, I get an error stating that some data may have been sent but it does not present the certificate to be accepted. Because this is an internet exposed box, I prefer to leave selinux intact. Am I missing something? apachectl configtest, says all is OK. Apache starts. I just can't connect to the server. CentOS and HP Drivers

I am debating installing CentOS on a new HP DL580 with an MSA1000 SAN. HP offers drivers that are specific to RHEL and will not install on other RH distros i.e. RH 9. Has anyone gotten the HP SupportPack to install under CentOS? Thanks! -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

OT mod_security

Hi guys, I've planning out my upgrade to CentOS4 and one of my plans for security is to impliment the mod_security apache module to filter out unwanted malicious intent. Not having used it before, I wanted to see if anyone here has implimented it and did it block any legit traffic or cause resource traffic/serious slowdowns of their systems? I've asked on the forum about secure virtual hosting and have considered many options but what I have decided on is a combination of vsftp/TLS to chroot users and mod_security to reduce the risk of outside intrusion attempts via HTTP. Is mod_security available as a package on CentOS4/RHEL4 ? I found packages for 3 but thus far none for 4. many thanks rgds Franki
