firefox or mozilla won't start

Greetings When I start firefox or mozilla I get an hourglass for 3 seconds then nothing happends. Dropping to a terminal and typing firefox just returns to the command line. I re-installed firrefox and it installs fine until I quit then the same situation happends. After re-installing firefox it will run but the same situation happens where it won't start. I have installed int my home directory or into /usr/local/firfox. ( Cent OS 4.0 with all patches applied. Firefox 1.0.2 ) Ideas? Thanks -Jay

I created an account on the Forums this morning, but I got an error saying they were having a problem sending e-mail. I sent a message to the webmaster and no response either. So I can't post to the forum until my account is activated. Are the forums new? By the amount of traffic on the list, this must be where most people resolved their problems. 1 GB RAM CentOS 4 only sees 885 MB

Is this a known bug? Suprisingly google didn't turn up much. I'm running DDR RAM and a AMD XP processor on CentOS 4.

CentOS 4 and Intel P4 without Hyper-Threading vs. Intel P4 with Hyper-Threading

Hello Does anyone know of any possible concerns in moving a "production" CentOS 4 install from one machine to another where the "only" difference is that the processor changes from a 1.8 Intel P4 "without" Hyper-Threading to a 3.0 Intel P4 "with" Hyper-Threading ? I am guessing not, yet I "have to" ask. Regards, - rh

Where is .xsession-errors

Hi Yesterday I was using OpenOffice Impress, doing many cut/paste operations with images, and without any notice/message/warning the application die. Then I look for ~/.xsession-errors file to see any signal about the problem, but I realized that ~/.xsession-errors is no longer present. This is a new behaviour of X.org ? Rid me of this boot GUI

One of these days, RedHat might actually run me off!!!! AAAARGH!!!! Can anyone tell me how to get CentOS 4 to simply boot to the console in text mode? If I wanted a stinkin' GUI I would have installed winders! Now, my KVM and 25 foot cord is just too long to send a GUI signal across the room and I'm missing 50% of the screen.. striped vertically.. at about 1/8th inch spacing. Not really good enough to see what I'm in nor what the crap I'm doing. I do see I guess an Xterm window.. so I guess I can issue commands.. or... maybe I'll have to drag over a derned monitor. Shew!! Hello, I'm looking for a (relatively) simple way to help shape upload connections on my firewall box (CentOS 4 + iptables). Does anyone know of any packages, other than wondershaper, that do this? thanks!
