mailscanner on centos4

Anyone here running mailscanner on CentOS4? I'm using the latest MS with sendmail on x86_64 dual-Xeon. Messages seem to vanish after arriving, not even showing in mqueue.in . Anyone else with a similar setup, working or not? Thanks, Francois Caen

Time is Fleeting: CentOS 4 question

I have recently built a new server using CentOS4. I've found one major oddity: time resolution is completely whacked. I'm not using an external time source nor am I relying on NTP for time resolution. For some reason, time on this server moves forward at a far more rapid rate. Right now, all my other systems show Sunday May 8, 3:19 pm. The CentOS server thinks its Monday May 9, 3:54 pm. I just reset it about four hours ago to the correct time. I'm using an inexpensive eMachines T6212 AMD Athon 64 processor and 1 GB RAM. Can anyone suggest a reason why this server thinks it's 25 hours in the future and growing more distant with each minute? I would make a change and right away do: chmod -R 700 /root/.ssh I did not do chmod 600 /root/.ssh/authorized_keys as it didn't seem to need be...for sure I would have if I couldn't get it working. hardware problem trust usb2.0 pci card

after installing this card centos 3.4 detected and configured it ok. i'm unable to use any device on the card. tryed it with creative thumbdrive (mass storage device) an samsung usb2 dvd writer. suspecting the card to be defective i replaced it but didn't help centos detected the via chipset alright and loaded the modules. any ideas?

Gnome-terminal buffer problems?

Is anyone else having these. Using like slrn and ncftp I'm running into situations where scrolling too far down the buffer doesn't seem to roll correctly (for lack of a better term). Has anyone else encountered this and is there a fix? Preston

newer ZLIB and ZLIB-DEVEL

Greetings, I have need of a newer ZLIB and/or maybe the ZLIB-DEVEL. I need 1.2.2 or later and was told to go to www.zlib.net On that site, it mentions... zlib for Linux, both shared and static plus headers (RPM format, many architectures) so what I am wondering is this, is there a new ZLIB coming down the "upstream" pipe now or quickly? if there a specific YUM command to snag from another repository(ies) that you and the developers trust? if not, which one should I grab from www.zlib.net that will not cause me any future problems with "yum" or any other situations etc? I went with CentOS today and I couldn't be happier. I'm definitely excited to be part of this community. Now I just have to remember (after years of using the default SuSE install of Java/Ant/Tomcat/Eclipse, etc.) where the best place to put my Java apps is. Preston

Is there a repository of cool splashes for GDM, backgrounds, etc. yet? Not that I *need* them. Just sometimes fun to spruce up your workstation with a little eye candy that represents your new distro of choice. :-) Preston

Thusly, not my cup of tea. I have need to convert approximately 100 documents in Openoffice's native format to Microsoft Word's native format. Apparently, someone's manager wants all of the documents in Word (just this once) for whatever reason and going back and saving each individual file as a Word document seems excessive. Does anyone know of a conversion tool that is native to linux (preferrably) that could do this? Or even a Windows app would suffice truly.
