Create driver disk for Centos 4

Could someone provide the steps to create a driver disk for CentOS 4? I found some documentation describing steps to create one for CentOS 3 but I think it's slightly different since CentOS 4 uses the 2.6 kernel. Any help is appreciated.

Strange TCP ports phenomena

Hello list. I have new server on CentOS 4.1 - fresh installation. During security tests I've noticed: When I scan server ports (nmap) from the outside there is 21 tcp port open. But when I check on the server (netstat -tan or lsof -i) there is no any open 21 tcp port. Any ideas? To be honest I'm confused. Regards P.S.: of course I don't have started FTP service. There was some interest in the IRC channel on the latest Novell offering to the trade. This is interesting as it contains a full non-timebombed VMWare instance, in addition to the Novell technical offerings mentioned in the E-Mail below. Firefox and Java on CentOS 4.1

I need to run a Java-enabled Firefox on my CentOS4.1-powered laptop and it *was* running fine. Then yesterday I up2date'd the box and Firefox went from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6. And I lost Java. I can't seem to re-install it, whether from the original (1.5.0 I think it was) or the latest downloads. This is crucially important as I need to access my Dell RAC. Can anyone advise how to get Java back. Installing/Activating GUI for Server Settings

I did a minimal install and then with yum groupinstall, installed http, ftp and samba servers. However the gui server settings are not displayed for these servers. Is there a package that I need to install or do I need to change a setting(s) in a file? In reading "man yum" I did not see a way to find out what rpm's are installed with each group, or maybe I just did not understand the man pages. Can this be done? CentOS 4.1 x86_64 compiler segfaults

Hi list! I am running CentOS 4.1 x86_64 on an Athlon64. The box was installed only yesterday. Yesterday I was still able to compil stuff, yesterday even the tiniest and simplest programs fail to compile always with internal compiler error: Segmentation fault. For example: make -C /usr/src/linux-2.6 SUBDIRS=/tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/qozap ZAP=-I/tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/zaptel-1.0.9 modules make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.9-11.EL-x86_64' CC [M] /tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/qozap/qozap.o In file included from include/linux/types.h:13, from include/linux/kernel.h:13, from /tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/qozap/qozap.c:13: include/linux/posix_types.h:41: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault The 'funny' thing is that the problem is in different modules for each program like: /usr/include/stdlib.h:757: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault include/linux/posix_types.h:41: internal compiler error: Segmentation /usr/include/gconv.h:72: internal compiler error: Any ideas as to what might be broken on the box? Different Desktops

Is there a way in CENTOS 4.1 to set up users with different default desktops so that they do not have to select it via the sessions selection on the login screen? Example: user1 default desktop login is Gnome user2 default desktop login is KDE etc....
