Alfred, You can use xvidtune or gtf to generate modelines. Both should be included with your distribution. It's been a while since I used them, so check the man pages for how to use them. nvidia-installer should be installed when you run NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-XXXX-pkg1.run. Do 'locate nvidia-installer' or 'which nvidia-installer'. CUPS Problem

When setting up a raw queue on the CentOS box, it might be necessary to edit couple of files in /etc/cups. mime.convs - uncomment this line: #application/octet-stream application/vnd.cups-raw 0 - mime.types - uncomment this line: #application/octet-stream

I'm using a dual-headed setup w/ the NVIDIA driver and it works fine, even with hardware 3D stereo. BTW - I'm using RHEL3WS. I haven't switched to CentOS yet. If you're going to do that, you definitely want to tweak the settings for Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing (FSAA). How to do that is documented somewhere in the NVidia-supplied documentation. yum repository and createrepo

Kickstart with a VLAN interface

We use NVidia cards to do 3D hardware stereo graphics to view molecules in 3D. I only updated to the nvidia-supplied driver on a couple of machines because "it was there" not because the stock driver was slow or broken. APIC error on CPU0: 60(60)

I have a lot of this errors in my Centos stock 4.3 version in an Intel D945gnt motherboard with a Pentium D (dual core) If I disable apic in the grub.conf (apic=off) will I get a performance hit? Im running Asterisk on that machine. 40 is Received Illegal Vector 20 is Send Illegal Vector 60 means you're getting both errors at the same time. Basically it means that the APIC bus messages are malformed. The cause can be hardware or software, it's difficult to tell. If oyu really want to take advantage of the performance those cards have to offer, you should use the nvidia (that's the actual module name used by X) driver downloaded directly from NVidia. It makes a world of difference in performance, is easy to install, and is completely distribution neutral.
