Got three emails from Brian Trudeau <brian.trudeau(a)eastek-intl.com> to my mbox address saying With a subject of re: xxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxx Re: [CentOS] How to add System V to CentOS? Says thanks for submitting a ticket to support and gives three tickets 2DE-0B7CC3E3-050B, 34B-0B7CC3E2-829E, 1B5-0B7CC3E3-CB12 Since I had nothing to do with this, wanted to get it back to the list so that the interested party can locate it. Update csgfs without breaking things

Now that the csgfs repo has been updated to support the new kernel, I'm looking at doing updates again. I just want to do it without breaking things (if possible). I can handle doing a bit of trial and error, but I figure that if you guys can point out any obvious pitfalls, that can save me quite a bit of time. Unable to mount SMB drive

I have a Windows Server 2003 system I'm trying to back up to a Linux host. when I access the share with smbclient, I can "see" the files (`ls` returns a list of files, etc) smbclient -U shareuser //server/sharename password But, when I try to actually mount the drive, I get "permission denied" errors trying to access the drive. (EG: using `df`) Running the following command takes about 10 seconds: smbmount //server/sharename /mnt/servername -o \ credentials=/path/to/credentials,ro I've also tried an alternate format: mount -t smbfs -o username=USERNAME //server/sharename /mnt/servername Same results both ways. I found a CentOS forum where somebody had problems with the RPM package, but retrograding to the package(s) he recommends didn't change anything. http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2307 I'm running the latest samba-client & samba-common on CentOS 4.2. SELinux is in warn mode. Im assuming, that because I never filled out a support ticket with these people that someone else has done so using my email address. Anyone else experiencing anything like this? Or is this normal from the CentOS mailing list? The topic in the email is a topic ive responded to on the list, but have not visited any website to fill in any support requests... If someone is using my email address for this please don't. Just received one of these things for each email I sent to CentOS list early this morning...about a 6.5 hour lag time... what gives? I bet everyone starts seeing them real soon now unless it's just my great fortune... you should consider bouncing this subscription if it's valid. Adding Bind to a workstation build

I need a DNS server in a test environment, so I am adding Bind to my notebook build. I first did: yum install bind rebooted yum update rebooted Now I see named as a service I can start. But when I go to /var/named to edit the files (btw, all I want to do at this point is to fake out a FQDN expected by a piece of gear), none exist. And I doubt that if I start named it would be properly chrooted (as it was on a server where I selected named as a service to install). So pointers? where do I go from here?

Centos-4.2 and ACL's over NFS

Hi has anyone managed to get ACL's working on an nfs exported Filesystem with Centos-4.2 (server and client)? The work fine on the local filesystem (ext3) and the upstream vendor docs tell, that nfs acl's should work (by default).
