tg3 gigabit speed

Hi all, I have two HP DL145 G1 machines, running centos4 (2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp). Nics are recognized as: eth0: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95704) rev 2002 PHY(5704)] (PCIX:100MHz:64-bit) 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet 00:00:1a:19:f1:05 eth0: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] Split[0] WireSpeed[1] TSOcap [1] eth1: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95704) rev 2002 PHY(5704)] (PCIX:100MHz:64-bit) 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet 00:00:1a:19:f1:04 eth1: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] Split[0] WireSpeed[1] TSOcap [1] Both machines are wired in the same way: eth0 is connected do 100mbit switch, eth1 to a gigabit switch. But: # mii-tool eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok eth1: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok If I force eth1 to 1000 with ethtool, I get no link and then it autonegotiates itself back to 100. I can't even get them to talk at gigabit speed if I connect both machines together with crossover cable! I am considering purchasing a color laser printer for my network and would appreciate some feedback. I have looked at the following: Konica/Minolta 2430DL HP 2600N Can anyone tell me how well they work and are supported by cups as a network laser printing solution? How Undo Yum Upgrade

I accidentally enabled a repo, so my automatic yum upgrade installed a bunch of stuff and possibly broke yum. Is it possible to reverse this? Follow is the yum log of what got installed. Hello Installing sw on a CentOS 4.2 (iso version) I notice that the kernel version is 2.6.9-22.0.1.Elsmp in RH4 UP2 the kernel version is 2.6.9-22.Elsmp Some sw complain and check the kernel version. file command returns incorrect MIME type?

Here's the problem: [ben@kepler tmp]# file -i presentation.ppt presentation.ppt: application/msword I see lots of references to this problem, (EG: IMP, PHP bug, etc) all of which conclude, in various forms, "the problem is in your /usr/share/magic.mime, go away". But nowhere (that I've been able to find) is there actually a solution - and even the magic.mime file from the latest tar (downloaded from astron.com) didn't fix it, either. The magic file in the apache directory seems to come up with the answer of: no answer. I prefer to run postfix rather than sendmail.. Scalix is based on the HP Openmail system. It's pretty much a complete replacement of the MTA. No postfix. I'm installing it for a small business. They use lookout for the client. This thing rocks. Shared calendar, public folders. All this stuff just works. I was able to integrate spamassassin and clamav with it also. The webmail access is really good too. They use tomcat5 for all the web stuff. All the administration is done via the java web interface. There is command line stuff I'm starting to scratch the surface on. I've installed community edition 9.4.2 and 10 on centos4. Good luck. Cheers, Tim

Problem with oracle&httpd...

Hi, I have CentOS 4.2 installed on my PC and I've successfully installed Oracle 10g along with apache web server(httpd) and perl-DBD-Oracle. The problem is trying to connect to oracle to oracle from a CGI script. I defined all of the environment variables(ORACLE_HOME, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, PERL5LIB) in httpd.conf as well as apachectl scripts but I am getting the following error in the logs: ========================================= [Fri Mar 03 00:31:25 2006] [error] [client 192.168.251.6] Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so' for module DBD::Oracle: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 230. ============================================ Also I disabled SELlinux, defined all of the above mentioned env variables in /etc/profile but now use. One weird thing is that as a standalone perl script I can connect to oracle but not through CGI. Can any one please suggest what's going wrong or what am I missing? thanks in advance, Siv
