kernel panic - spin_lock

Guys, one of our boxes just died with the following error: kernel panic - not syncing: fs/block_dev.c:396: spin_lock (fs/block_dev.c:c0361c0) already locked by fs/block_dev.c/287. The system's an LVS running CentOS 4.3: centos-release-4-3.2 kernel-2.6.9-34.EL ipvsadm-1.24-6 heartbeat-1.2.3.cvs.20050927-1.centos4 I note that there's a bug report filed related to CentOS 4.2: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1201&nbn=7 I was just wondering, would you like a bug report filed for this? Will.

Please help! boot problem

Hi, I have a setup with raid 1 and one drive has failed, and the other drive won't boot says missing os. I thought I had it setup and tested but it would appear that it wasn't setup to boot form either drive. How can I boot from the good drive that is missing the grub. I am thinking of using linux rescue when booting from the centos 4.2 disc This is a production machine and I don't want to mess it up. Please help

Libpcap srpm?

I am looking for this and all I can find (checked some mirrors too) is the rpm. Where is the source rpm so I can rebuild from it? Thanks, Greg

Raid Questions

Hi, I have a centos 4.2 server setup and running as a zimbra email server. It has 2 18.4Gig SCSI hard drives setup in software raid 1 for mirroring. I had tested the unit before production and found that if I disconnected one of the drives the other wouldn't boot I search and found that I had to modify the boot (I don't remember exactly at the moment) After testing I am sure it worked. On the weekend the power went out and turns out one drive had failed and the server wouldn't boot from the other drive. I am not sure at what point the other drive failed could be days could be weeks ago. What is the proper way to get the system running again? I can fix the failed drive. (damaged pin). When I get it running again will the info on the drive that won't boot be mirror back to the other drive? I am sure the drive that won't boot due to grub and raid is the most current. Thanks for any help Mace

PHP 5.0.4 and PostgreSQL [solved]

PHP 5.0.4 and PostgreSQL

Hello list. Does anybody of you use PHP 5.0.4 from "CentOS plus" repo and PostgreSQL 8.1.x from www.postgresql.org (rpms for RHLE 4 AS)? (php-pgsql.rpm I have installed) On my machine PHP don't connect to PostgreSQL. Anybody of you set it up? On the other server I use PHP and PostgreSQL included into CentOS 4.x and it works fine. hi, I am looking for a spec (or src.rpm) for PHP 5.1.x and CentOS 4.3. I've noticed that there is a 5.0.4 in the centosplus directory but no 5.1. Any ideas (besides generate my own)?

ip_conntrack_ftp fails to load on CentOS 4.3

I have a CentOS 4.3 box that is giving me some serious problem. During the "yum update" from 4.2 -> 4.3 I lost my connection (okay, I accidentally closed the window). I logged back on and did another yum update, and it appeared as though things completed properly. Everything is working fine, up until one of my hosting clients noted that he is now unable to use ftp to update his web site. He could when I was running 4.2. Upon further inspection, I noted that the ip_conntrack_ftp module wasn't loaded. When I tried to insert it manually via "modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp" I get what appears to be a hang in the terminal session. Logging on via a separate session I can see that there are tons of "modprobe" processes being spawned. I can use ^C to break out of modprobe and the processes all die. Thinking that I may borked the kernel install, I dropped back to the 2.6.9-22SMP.EL kernel, where I still cannot load the module. I then removed the -34* kernel packages and reinstalled them, then booted into them. No dice. Just for fun, I cleared all iptables entries, and tried again. No dice. Short of a reload (which would be inconvient, given that the box is 100 miles away) I'm at a loss at what to look at next. Everything appears to be fine. The machine is a dual-Athlon box, SCSI, with selinux in permissive mode. Using "strace modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp" I get the results which are at the end of this message. The "unfinished" entry at the end occured when I hit ^C. None of my other boxes (4.2->4.3 upgrades) have this problem. An "rpm -Va" doesn't present any unexpected results (e.g. Those files noted as changed have been, by me.) What have I missed? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
