Installed plus kernel, kudzu did not see atheros wifi

I took the dive and installed the CentosPlus kernel. I remembered that I could always boot with the old kernel if things went south. But on reboot, kudzu wanted to delete the Atheros config. I told it not to, but.... Would a simple 'freshen' of madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at.i386.rpm ? an rpm -qa |grep wifi returns: madwifi-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at madwifi-0.9.1-24.el4.at madwifi-hal-kmdl-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL-0.9.1-24.el4.at

SGI Visual Workstation 540

Hi all, have anybody seen CentOS or any linux distro running on a SGI Visual Workstation 540 ? Appended 1 in fstab entries CentOS4.X installs

In my /etc/fstab here is just a snippet LABEL=/1 ....<rest of line> LABEL=/boot1 ....<rest of line> When i installed centOS-4.3 and it has appeared after starting to use any version of centOS4 was that the labels in my fstab were getting the "1" appended to each label... but if the all the labels for my partitions are appended with the "1" and i format and reload they show up in my partition setup during installation and i re-label them appropriately without the "1" and the /etc/fstab doesnt have the "1" appended... its like every other install the "1" gets appended....anyone come across this... if show how can i change it....i know its not like it makes a difference but I just noticed wondering why this happens.

Hello, I may be a little confused but why is there a spamassassin package and a spamassassin perl module? Which is better? It looks like the perl module version has more plugins. What if I have both installed? TIA

This has been an ongoing issue. I have had this problem before. From what I can recall. Usually after a fresh install, the first cron.weekly to run, this error will show up...Which then each following cron.weekly will not have this error...And also, same as if there is a update to the system...Sometimes during a yum update, no particular one, the cron.weekly error will ocurr. Like i said this has been ongoing, and i recognize this error from years back. I believe it to be harmless and i really wouldnt worry about as I dont.

nullmailer recommendations

Just wondering what people tend to use for nullmailers on their centos boxes (i.e. a minimal outgoing-only MTA)? I guess the obvious solution is a minimal postfix config, but that seems reasonably heavyweight and easy to misconfigure - is there anything lighter floating around the centos universe? how to bind a process to root priority and return to a unroot user

i login with nuroot user id and want to run a process(like listen port under 1024) which only root priority allowed,what can i do(set_uid can't do this). thanks for any help!

Unable to configure squid transparent proxy on Centos4.0

hey friends, I am trying to configure Squid Transparent Proxy on Centos4.0. The eth0 is connected to the Internet and eth1 is for the LAN connection I am testing this scenario with 2 machines one machine (Centos4.0 ) on which squid is running and other machine which is debian is on the network 192.168.2.0. Centos4.0 eth0: 192.168.1.125/24 eth1: 192.168.2.126/24 Debian: eth0: 192.168.2.83/24 gateway: 192.168.2.126/24 (eth1 of Centos) Squid works fine if I manually add the proxy settings in any browser for the clients of network (192.168.1.0) but as I want to configure transparent proxy I have added these lines to squid.conf http_port 5678 httpd_accel_host virtual httpd_accel_port 80 httpd_accel_with_proxy on httpd_accel_uses_host_header on iptables configuration Only one rule is there iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 5678 I can access the LAN servers from the Debian machine but I am not able to access the internet. Any pointers what can be the problem ? Please let me know if you need any other inputs. Thanks & Regards Ankush Grover
