Kind of OT: internal imap server

Hi Everyone, I'm running a Postfix+Dovecot+SpamAssassin box in a DMZ. Everything is honkey dorey. Lately I've been thinking about moving Dovecot (for IMAP) into the internal network - I'd rather not store my mail on the CentOS 4 host in the DMZ. Not having done this before, I'm not quite sure what options I have. Also, I don't know if this is a good idea at all. So: 1. Should I just leave mail storage on the same box in the DMZ? 2. If the answer to 1 is no, what's the best way to get mail from the SMTP server in the DMZ to an IMAP server in the internal network? Here's what I've briefly considered: DMZ Postfix+SpamAssassin -> Internal Postfix+Dovecot DMZ Postfix+SpamAssassin -> Internal Fetchmail+Dovecot 3. Any tutorials for this out there, or even articles, etc., discussing using Postfix as a gateway? So far, I haven't found any that I've liked. Thanks in advance for any help. updating base kernel when plus kernel installed

A while ago I installed 2.6.9-nnnn.plus.c4 (nnnn means version at that time, now at 42.0.2), but I have to boot with the base kernel, as the plus kernel does not seem to work with my Atheros card/drivers. Right now my base kernel is at: 2.6.9-34.0.2.EL and I have this feeling that is quite behind the current rev. I cannot figure out how to get kernel.i686 to upgrade. I can't even seem to get yum or yumex to list the package name for the current kernel rev.

New X crappy for older stuff?

While burning in a new desktop Epox KT-880 workstation, I'm running on my old K6-III at 360MHz. Before new X updates (put everything in today, kernel, elfutils, ntpd - Selinux issues? - xorg, ...) with my PCI ATI 7000 (Radeon) on a 19" Samsung 950b @ 1024x768 (one of 5 different resolutions I commonly use), I could scroll smoothly at reasonable rates. With the new stuff I get severe flickering. As if the screen is "blanking", showing a little, "blanking", showing a little, ... It's really horrible. Anybody else got some old stuff that does(n't) have symptoms? I'll say bye to this update shortly I guess, security be damned. I'm the only user and IPCop protects me. TIA BTW: 4.4? Anything left for that? :-) -- Bill

Repost: System crash on loading gdm revisited

Hello - I never heard back on this and continue to experience this bug. Can someone help me to locate the patch for this so that I can be sure it's included in my source? It's not happening on every boot, but about every other or third. And just as described in the bug report (the boot works OK, but at the end rather than GDM starting nicely, I get a "fuzzy" screen and the system crashes requiring a power cycle) but I don't get the "kernel BUG" message in my logs. If I should submit this a but report to bugs.centos.org, please let me know. CentOS 4.3 - MySQL - NIS user issue

Hi I have what i think is a strange issue - All my users are NIS users and they can access this box fine. I have a MySQL server running on this box that is running fine. The OS 'root' user can authenticate and use MySQL fine e.g. [root@xxxxxxx]# mysql -u bugs -pxxxx bugs Reading table information for completion of table and column names You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 5 to server version: 3.23.58 Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer. mysql> Yes i know thats an ancient MySQL version but this is an app requirement, dont get me started! now when a NIS user tries to use the db [root@xxxx]# su - bugzilla bugzilla@xxxx$ mysql -u bugs -pxxxx bugs ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13) any ideas why this is or what i can do to make it work? thanks

CentOS 4.3 & Mysql 5.0 install dependency error

Hi, CentOS 4.3 minimal install enable centos plus yum update then yum install mysql-server GET THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE: Erro: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14 is need by php-mysql It is a repostery error. How can reolve this. Any help appreciated. Thanks Lloyd

Now I have the dvd iso mounted (-o loop), and changed CentOS-Base.repo so the [base] repo will point to it. # yum update Boom! Yum tries to use the [update] repository (not local) to upgrade to 4.4. What I ended up doing is: # yum --disablerepo=* --enablerepo=base update Which, of course, works fine and uses my local (file://) repository. Is this the only way to do it, or did I miss something ?
