slow system

I have a server that is running slowly and I think it's because of my stupidity - it's running CentOS 3.8 I have software RAID level 1 and the mirrored drives are the master & slave on the primary controller and I'm thinking that is my mistake. Is there a simple method for changing the configuration of md before I switch the slave drive to be the slave on the secondary controller? Craig

piranha lvsd "cluster" status: how?

Hi, I've got a couple of machines acting as directors with service=lvs Is there something similar to 'clustat' for pulse+lvsd? I need this in order to make our monitorization scripts "cluster-aware", or else one node will have critical status when there are less nannies than it expected because the services ran over to the other node. WinXP don't boot

Hi all, I've installed CentOS 4.4 in a box which previously had dual boot (XP SP2 and Ubuntu) I can run CentOS without problem but I can't boot XP SP2. When I try it the system simply hangs... CentOS 4.4 on mini-itx

Hi, I have a EPIA mini-itx board that I have been running Fedora 4 on. I want to install CentOS 4.4 on it since FC4 is no longer supported. The install goes fine but when I reboot the machine after the install I get errors like the following: hda:<4>hda: dma_timer_Expiry : dma status == 0x21 There are other errors about not being able to access the disk and eventually the kernel panics. The disk is a 4 gig compact flash. I used a 1 gig chip for FC4 so I know the thing will run from a flash chip. Does anyone have any idea how to get this to work? Is there a way to turn off dma? Centos 5 beta - did I miss it

Hi all, I read the "projected date" for Centos 5 beta was Jan 8. I havn't seen anything else? I know its not ready till its ready but just was wondering if there is a new projected date I guess. I have a laptop that doesnt seem to like 4.4 and I was hoping 5 beta would be the magic. Thanks, Jerry

RHCS on CentOS4 - 2 node cluster problem

Hello fellows, I have a problem with a 2 node RHCS cluster (CentOS 4) where node 1 failed and node 2 became active. That happened already last year and due to holidays the customer didn't recognize it. The cluster is just a failover for Apache and has no shared storage space. Customer now saw the situation, tried to fix it by rebooting node 1, which then failed to come back up. As service ccsd started but couldn't get full cluster information the followup service cman hangs forever - bootup hangs in this state. Omitting cluster service starts at boot time by being selective (boot parameter confirm) brings up the box. ccsd starts up (by service or by hand and with parameter -n), but syslogs that it fails to get cluster infrastructure information. So the cluster is in inquorate state. Anyone experienced with the RHCS knows whether I can avoid switching down node 2 and the Apache service for which the cluster runs? Documentation (manual and FAQ) is silent about this. I verified that there is no network / NIC problem. How to get the 2 node cluster back into quorate state? Thanks for helping. Cheers Alexander

Anybody using NetCell raid controller on CentOS 4?

Is anybody using NetCell raid controllers on CentOS 4? The pricing is pretty nice on these, I know they support only raid-3, but for a home mythtv box they would seem to be good. Paul
