Can't get XFS enabled on Centos 5.0

I anm trying to enable XFS with no success. I followed the instructions provided in http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus I installed the new kernel. Example: 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus I also installed these packages as described in a post I found yum install --enablerepo=centosplus xfsprogs xfsprogs-devel lsmod shows nothing about XFS I would image there are others out there running XFS on Centos boxes. Could you please help. ps. Just joined the list(switching over from Fedora). I recognised the name Scott Silva from the Mailscanner list I also belong to. Small world. Where does he find the time?

Asus P5B-VM DO board?

Anyone had any success with or hints for a system based on the Asus P5B-VM DO board, or the Intel Q965 (with its associated Intel GMA 3000 VGA chip) in general? I had to put pci=nommconf in order to get the installer (CentOS 4.5) and the installed system to boot, but I can't get the graphics to work. RPMforge metadata problems

Hi, Yesterday evening I added a TIMESTAMP to the root of my tree in order to follow up on the correctness of mirrors. And after 12 hours more than 50% of the mirrors do not have that TIMESTAMP file. It is possible that it is filtered out, so the test is not at all valid. I am going to reduce the number of mirrors and only add the ones that have a recent TIMESTAMP. However since information on why this happens (or when this happens) is scarce, I am not sure if reducing the mirrorlist will be effective. How to enable my RAID again

Hi I have setup software RAID two years ago using FC3 using the graphical installer (RAID1). In the mean time I installed CENTOS4.5 and everything is running fine. At least that was my perception. I tried to read the mdadm manual but it's not quit clear to me what to do. # mdadm -A --scan -v mdadm: No arrays found in config file Shows I have to do more. The previous fedora installation is still around, but is doesn't contain a /etc/mdadm.conf file. Can anyone help me with some steps to take to get it running again. I do have backups, but if things go wrong restoring takes several hours. Thanks, Theo PS. Send for the third time. apt-cacher for CentOS

Hi All, Is there something similar to apt-cacher available for CentOS? I would like to ensure that an application is only downloaded once to the network and not hundreds of times. If there isn't an equivalent, would someone please point me in the direction of how I might accomplish this with CentOS? -- James A. CentOS 5 LiveCD better than the real one?

Folks, I am terribly puzzled by an issue reported as bug 2381 [http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2381] definitely an upstream bug, as it does the same under X/OS 5 and StartCom 5. Simply put: Hibernation fails with horrendous I/O errors after swsusp starts dumping to swap. What bugs me is that hibernating from the CentOS 5 LiveCD *works*!!! (on the same hardware) How could I investigate to see what is the relevant difference between the LiveCD and the installed system, WRT suspend-to-disk? It has been said that "CentOS 5 i386 Live CD is based on the ADIOS Live CD Project", but also that "CentOS Project would like to thank Patrice Guay for the creation of this CD". Who is supposed to know better about this issue? Also, how could I check if upstream has a similar bug report? I don't have any RHN acct. It's a shame that RHEL5 && clones fail to work properly with a specific laptop (Acer Travelmate 5310/5320/5710/5720 have the same architectural design), but an ad-hoc LiveCD works! question on grep

Is there a command line option on grep that says count ALL occurances on a line not just the first one??? echo "jerry jerry" | grep -c jerry only returns 1 and not 2. Looking at the man page I did not see anything like that. Thanks, Jerry

problems with "yum --enablerepo=centos upgrade" command

On CentOS 4.5, I'm trying to upgrade MySQL 4 to MySQL 5. (I enabled the RPMforge with the repository protection) rpm -qa | grep mysql gives me: mysql-4.1.20-2.RHEL4.1.0.1 mysql-server-4.1.20-2.RHEL4.1.0.1 But when I try to update yum --enablerepo=centosplus upgrade mysql-server I get Loading "priorities" plugin Setting up Upgrade Process Setting up repositories Reading repository metadata in from local files 484 packages excluded due to repository priority protections Could not find update match for mysql No Packages marked for Update/Obsoletion I suspect that something here has to do with this not upgrading properly? [root@localhost bin]# rpm -qa | grep priorities yum-plugin-priorities-0.0.3-1.c4
