CentOS 5.2 and Bacula

Hi everyone, I have a Samba server on CentOS 5.2 that I would like to and some backup service to, I have been trying to install Bacula, because I want to backup MS machines too, and there is a web GUI. But when searching around i google I get a bit confused. about what packages I need. Has anyone got bacula running on Centos or maybe guide in the right direction. Tronn

mysql 4 > 5 export import issue

Hi I am migrating a mailserver from CentOS 4 to 5 and i am migrating the db's over from mysql-max-4.1.13 to mysql-server-5.0.45-7.el5 during the mysql import it fails with this... ERROR 1062 (23000) at line 129: Duplicate entry '3-r��?�' for key 1 anyone got any clues to this one as so far i have drawn a blank thanks

Dazuko module Panda Antivirus

Hi, I installed Panda antivirus for linux but it uses Dazuko module for updating virus definition downloaded from internet to virus definitions database. So i downloaded dazuko ( tar package) software and tryed to install. But it generates the below defined errors, Which module in the kernel has to be enabled. Please help me i am using Centos 5.2 with kernel version of 2.6.18-92.1.13.el5xen [gopinath@localhost dazuko-2.3.5]$ ./configure checking host system type... I recently put Cent 5.2 (64 bit) on a new server using a Supermicro pdsbm-ln2+ sys board. I did the original installation at home using the 5.2 dvd I got via torrent. I turned it over to my NOC tech and it went right online so he ran yum update. With the most recent kernel, which went in with the update, the server hung on grub (after reboot). He did a fresh (minimal) Centos installation and once again ran update, but again the new kernel wouldn't load. The machine is set up RAID 1 with two Seagate 250 GB sata drives. Nothing fancy, just cheapo 7200 rpm stuff. I wish I could be more specific, but I wasn't present during the update and failure. None the less, I would appreciate all the opinions and feedback you folks can offer. I'll have the server back here in a couple of days. In the meanwhile, I'd like to get some ideas that could help me resolve this issue. I put the system board manual on my server at: http://hwy39.net/centos/Supermicro_PDSBM-LN1-LN2-LN2+_Manual.pdf . Question re RHEL 5.3

I've heard now from more than one source about problems with CentOS (and RH) at least up through 5.2 w.r.t. SATA drive handling, and I've even reported on this myself in this list before. My question is, do we have any idea if 5.3 has any improvements in this area? One of my cohorts here, who happens to be a Fedora fan, says that these problems are fixed in F9, but I have grave concerns about putting an enterprise lifeline main application on any Fedora release. If 5.3 solves these issues, I'd much rather go with that. Any ideas? Any places I might look to see for myself? Thanks. mhr

LDAP and expired passwords

CentOS 5.2 with OpenLDAP 2.3.27, nss_ldap_253.13, using TLS, i686 and x86_64. If a user with an expired password (shadowLastChange + shadowMax < current day) logs in to a system where ldap.conf points first to a consumer-only LDAP server, the password change operation (exop) proceeds and fails with: LDAP password information update failed: Referral If I comment out "ssl start_tls", the referral to the master is followed and the password change operation succeeds. I've found references to problems with earlier releases of pam_ldap when referrals were not properly followed when using TLS, and these are supposed to be fixed; apparently not in my case. Can anyone hit me with the clue stick? The relationship between udev and MAKEDEV

Hi People, Recently an issue where I was trying to changed the group and permission associated with the device /dev/net/tun. As I knew devices were controlled by udev I went looking at its configuration and found this rule 50-udev.rules:KERNEL=="tun", NAME="net/%k". Some research on the web suggested that modifying the default rules was a bad idea and that you should in fact override them with your own custom rules. So I tried setting up a custom rule, this failed. I then tried modifying the default rule this also failed. A helpful response from here pointed me to MAKEDEV and I was able to change /etc/makedev.d/01linux-2.6.x to do what I wanted. But this has raised a couple of questions for me. 1. If udev doesn't directly control the creation of this device why is there a udev rule for it? 2. Is modifying /etc/makedev.d/01linux-2.6.x likely to cause me issues in future ? My investigation to date has led to me to believe that devices listed in /etc/udev/makedev.d/ are the devices that you always want to be present on a system rather than relying on something about your systems Hardware configuration to lead to a device being created. Is this correct ? Thank you for any thoughts / information you can share relating to this.
