Im brand new to CentOS, so this is probably a question with a simple answer (if I only knew where to look). Someone hans pointed me at the centos.plus kernel, which is close to what I need, but I still have to add a couple of options. So where do I find either the src for the centos.plus kernel, or a diff from something like 2.8.18 or 2.6.28.8 ??? With this Ill be able to add my additional options... -- Reg.Clemens reg(a)dwf.com

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag

I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent package from Dag's repository. I have configured /etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus: [dag] name=Dag Wieers RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux #Also see URL http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/ baseurl=http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el$releasever/en/$basearch/dag gpgcheck=1 # This repo often does not respond in a timely fashion so turned off # by default. OK, perhaps I wasnt clear in my previous posting. I am looking for either a SRPM for the CentOS 5.2 centos.plus kernel, or more likely, a diff from the kernel at kernel.org. I was pointed to the wiki, which MENTIONED a Source RPM, but didnt point to anywhere to find these for CentOS. All Ive been able to find are ISO's . I really dont need a bunch of tools that will complicate the problem, a simple diff is what Im looking for,- its got to be out there somewhere. -- Reg.Clemens reg(a)dwf.com

dkim-milter-2.7.2 and Centos 5.2

I am trying to install dkim-milter-2.7.2 on a Centos 5.2 system and keep getting the following errors. I have very little experience in C programing so I am at a loss as how to proceed. UDEV rule allow users to unmount USB stick

I'm trying to understand why a normal user is not allowed to unmount their USB stick? I think it is most likely a udev rule. does anyone know ? Thanks Phil.

aide and changes in system

I've checked my system by aide and i've received information: changed: /bin changed: /bin/tar changed: /bin/mv changed: /bin/cp changed: /bin/ls changed: /bin/vi i don't remember that I changed those commands, what does it mean? Somebody broken in? or those commands are changed normally? -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

C5: prevent loading of AHCI in favor of "fakeraid" megaide

Hi, I'm trying to install an old fujitsu siemens econel 50 server. It uses an Intel chipset with ICH6R sata subsystem known as fakeraid. I have configured a Raid 1 with two 160GB hds. FS and Intel both provide a driver called megaide on a driver disk to use fakeraid and here is the problem: - The readme tells me to install with the "nostorage" kernel option and I can load the megaide driver with the driver disk. - in anaconda I only see one disk sda - exactly what I want. - after installation when booting the 92.el5 kernel obviously the ahci driver is used not the megaide, LVM complains about identical PVs on sda and sdb and I can unload megaide while running the server - so megaide is not used upon reboot but ahci - megaide is inside the initrd but - probably because ahci loads first - not used Question: How can I prevent the ahci driver to load after installation? Thx Rainer PS: I know the pros and cons of fakeraid - I want to use it. Plz no discussion about this.

PHP 5.2.x rpm for Centos 5? (any news)

I've searched the archives and found a post last march about a rpm version of php for centos. Any news about it? Is it still in testing? Any known issues? Where do I get it? Thanks.
