Just kernel-headers and kernel-devel (or kernel-(foo-)devel) packages.

Good Day All, I have issues installing VMware Server on CentOS 5, its asking for the location of c header files, i have installed them all but i am still unable to install VMWare Server here is the output What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory. What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? Googling around it looks like there is 2TB limit and there should be some kernel parameters to tweak but I still can't get a clear answer. Thanks Peter

Apache 2.2 on CentOS 5 and name-based SSL virtual hosts?

name-based virtual hosts with SSL (*) work fine with Apache 2.0 on CentOS 4 and I know from someone that he uses a self-compiled Apache 2.2 on CentOS 4 and this works fine for him as well. So, Apache 2.2 should still have this functionality. But testing this on CentOS 5 with the Apache 2.2 coming with it is not working for me. Has anyone tested this already? Does it work for you? I fear the build for RHEL/CentOS 5 may be missing a build parameter or so that is necessary to enable this. (*) using the same wildcard certificate for all SSL virtual hosts on the same IP-no:port combination, of course. nmbd dead but pid file exists

I'm having a lot of problems with nmbd quitting while I'm working. 'service smb status' shows samba running, but 'nmbd dead but pid file exists'. Log files show lines like nmbd/nmbd.c:reload_interfaces(229) reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down... Googling hasn't come up with anything helpful. Has anyone any idea what is happening and what I can do about it? Anne

Flushing RAM contents?

A user wants to time a command/program/application and ensure the full contents of that command's data management has been flushed from RAM/cache and saved to disk. Is there a way to ensure the cache/RAM is flushed to disk, or is the flushing a function of the kernel or the application? This happens to be on a 64-bit Intel system with 64-bit CentOS 5, fully patched. But even if the system were an out-of-box 64-bit install, unpatched, would it make a difference? Thanks. Scott

Folding@Home

Hi, I seem to not be able to connect to the folding site and receive new work. Anyone else having this issue? Port 8080 is open as well as the other web ports on the firewall. I can ping the host but get nothing when I open a web browser to it. Anyone else having the same issues?
