How do you send special keystrokes in vncviewer? I need to send Shift-F10... Searching the net showed nothing and realvnc's webpage yielded nothing either. Thanks! jlc

iSCSI + CentOS 5.1 +_netdev problem

Dear Srs, I'm trying to automount an iSCSI device at system startup, this is the configuration: - CentOS 5.1, with kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE, i686 arch - iscsi-initiator-utils 6.2.0.865-0.8.el5 - iSCSI target is a Infortrend A16E-G2130-4 I have solved the "initial_login_retry_max" problem [1] and Open- iSCSI logs into Infortrend target without problems, with 10 retries in the parameter, but the partition is not automounted. Start scripts order appears OK: # ls -1 /etc/rc3.d/S* /etc/rc3.d/S07iscsid /etc/rc3.d/S10network /etc/rc3.d/S12syslog /etc/rc3.d/S13iscsi /etc/rc3.d/S25netfs /etc/rc3.d/S55sshd /etc/rc3.d/S90crond /etc/rc3.d/S99local But "_netdev" marked iSCSI device is not mounted, this is the fstab file: LABEL=/vz /vz ext3 _netdev,rw,noatime,nodiratime,commit=60,data=writeback 0 0 I have tried using LABELs, UUIDs, device names in fstab file.. and the problem is the same. If I put a "mount /vz" into "/etc/rc3.d/S99local" partition is mounted without problem.. I think the problem is in the "netfs" start script, I see no option to mount "_netdev" marked entries.. only a call to the command: (..) fsck -A -T -R -a -t opts=_netdev (..) I have solved the problem adding a "sleep 1" before the fsck execution: (..) echo $STRING sleep 1 fsck -A -T -R -a -t opts=_netdev rc=$? (..) Anyone with the same problem? What can be wrong? I have no problem with the same scenario on CentOS 4.6.. thanks!! Regards, -- Santi Saez

What is wrong with yum?

Hello, in my CentOS-Base.repo file there is a line baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/updates/$basearch and yum update said 'nothing to do'. Then I change this line to baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.1/updates/i386 and yum updates firefox, squid, sos and so on. That happens on two of my computers, reproducible. Does yum sometimes forget it's release version? regards Olaf

New firewall, need mac changed

I have read a few ways to do this, but not 100% sure. I need the interfaces reliably associated to the hardware (there are more than one), so the ifcfg-ethn has the mac address in it. I need to match the mac address of an old router that is about to be removed so I need not change any dns related config. Thanks! jlc

Logrotate problem after start of DST

Hi, since the start of the daylight savings time my server has a problem with the log files. Sunday night the log files get rotated correctly, i.e. /var/log/messages gets /var/log.messages.1, /var/log/messages.1 get /var/log/messages.2, ... The problem now is that after log rotation new messages do no go to /var/log/messages, but to the rotated file. As DST started 3 weeks, the latest log entries now go to /var/log/messages.3. This happens to all other log files too. Even after rebooting the server new log entries go to /var/log/messages.3 instead of /var/log/messages. Any ideas why this happens and how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance, Bernd.

Another samba problem

My server is CentOS with samba 3.0.25b. One client box runs Mandriva 2007.1 with samba 3.0.24. I can see the client box from the server, but the client box can't see the server. It can see the laptop on the same lan, though. Any suggestions as to what I could check? I know Craig said there had been some significant changes in recent versions. Are any of those changes likely to have an impact on this? Anne

Full Screen Mode

Hello, Just finished installing Centos5.1 on two machines (P4s, Nvidia graphics, Gnome desktop) Running OpenGL applications and need to run in full screen mode without any frame borders or window icons across multiple monitors. ( 4 monitors with two dual-headed Nvidia cards in twinview mode ) One machine works just fine, the other retains the Gnome frame and opens the apps in an X-term window. Have compared the X11 startup files, Xsession, scripts, Gnome settings, and can't find any differences. Obviously, I'm missing something, somewhere Under Debian things work just fine. Sure I'll eventually find it, but any help would be appreciated. Also is there anyway to turn off the update popup window? Not to cool when it shows up on the game screen.... Thanks John
