ycl repository NOT FOUND (needed for gnumeric install)

When yum tries to acces yjl repository, http://yellowjacketlinux.fileburst.com/yum/yjl/el5/i386/yjl-misc/repodata/r… it gets back Not Found The requested URL /yum/yjl/el5/i386/yjl-misc/repodata/repomd.xml was not found on this server. Few days ago everything was OK. This repository is needed for the gnumeric install on CentoOS 5.1. Is there an alternate repo available for the gnumeric ? Igor

To start I wish to that you for the swift response on this issue. I do not think that I would get such a quick response from a proprietary (closed-source) company. Open Source :-). To respond to one the comments about large file systems recommend you split it in several smaller (2-4TB) filesystems This is not feasible in many situations. In some situations 2-4TB is not even a reasonable starting point. A little background. I have been using RH from v2 to v9. and in v9 I did get an install ISO of RH9 that included XFS support. Way back then I used it on a 1.4TB PATA hardware raid 5 (A lot of disk for it time). The system is still operational with out any FS issues short of failed drives. Fixed with the hot spares on the system. in five years of operation the system has had one outage a maintenance reboot Less then 2min down). After RH9 I switched to Centos. The system that I am currently configuring with 7+ TB of storage is one of the smaller storage servers for our systems. Using the same configuration with more drives we are planning several 20TB+ systems. For the work we do a single file system over 100TB is not unreasonable. We will be replacing a 80TB SAN system based on StorNext with a Isilon system with 10G network connections. If there was a way to create a Linux (Centos) 100TB 500TB or larger clustered file system with the nodes connected via infiniband that was easily manageable with throughput that can support multiple 10Gbps Ethernet connections I would be very interested. hi, i have @server1.domain.com, #server2.domain.com, @server3.domain.com and @server4.domain.com and i distrib the e-mail users in that four servers for equal. 2 servers have: dovecot+sendmail+mailscanner+spamassassin+clamav+ssl/tls+squirrelmail and other two have: dovecot+postfix+amavisd+spamassassin+clamav+squirrelmail+ssl/tls, all this machine over https and firewall with drop rule for defect. ok, there more, i have one machine to receive e-mails and other machine to send e-mails. this is que question: i want have only one machine with https and squirrelmail (i have the machine) than the users can view the e-mails only with transparent one domain, per example, @domain.com. i do the method to send and receive e-mails by separate machine through the squirrelmail config but i don't know how i can do the transparent @domain.com ??? what is the name of this method or what is the idea than i can permit to resolve this problem... thank for all..ROberto.- -- Roberto Barrientos Molina Administración TIC 207153-207140-207109 UMAG NOTA: Los acentos han sido omitidos intencionalmente.-

Burning DVD with upgrade of cdrtools for cdrecord

I am having problems burning DVD's from commandline. I was wondering if anyone else has had any luck using cdrecord-2.01 and cdrtools that is supposed to add DVD support? recommendations/suggestions - geographically spread network based on Centos

Good day all, I was wondering if I could pick some admin heads here as I have a HUGE project I have been tasked with..... I am asking here since I will be basing everything on Centos, and want it to all play nice together. If anyone feels this is straying off topic, please just reply off list. I do not want to be the cause of one of those threads. I have 3 offices, 1 in Canada, 2 in Mexico. We are currently investigating connectivity options (still no results yet), but I suspect one of the mexican sites will be very limited. I need to setup the typical office setup, but need to get the following figured out. I personally do not have experience in this type of network (all my past experience comes from a centralized office, one location, or a multi office with services all based in their respective locations). So because The connectivity is probably limited (in our mexican offices), I will need to take that into consideration (obviously). Our head office has a 10mb full duplex fiber feed, but we also have equipment in data centers. What I need in the end is: - exchange like functions IE Global address book, shared calenders, etc (looking at scalix, or could keep my existing email server - very happy with it, and just setup a LDAP server and a CalDAV server - still investigating this one though). - Funambol with various connectors to push email and calendars to blackberries and iphones. - vpn (openvpn) - mostly just the head office though - collaborative / project management environment (looking at alfresco - sharepoint alternative) - monitoring (nagios) - helpdesk (glpi with ocs for inventory management) - file sharing (samba) - remote file backups (probably just rsync into a dedicated backup machine in a data center) - access to all services (probably - still waiting back from the higher ups) from all locations So my first thought is that my preference it to keep as much at a data center as possible due to security, temperature control, connection reliability, etc. Due to my inexperience with some of these products, (IE Scalix,etc) I am kind of wondering what the best way or topology is to do this is. So at a brief first thought I kind of envisioned this: - scalix, Funambol, alfresco, nagios (also one in my office as backup), backup box collocated in the data center providing it can be locked down adequately, and still provide the needed services to all 3 offices. - in each office a samba file server, vpn server. Due to the probable connectivity issue with the remote offices (one is literally in the desert at a work site), I did not think a constant inter-office VPN was the way to go, Or even securing the main data center services with VPN (unless I could build it right for speed). However I guess I could lock down the data center services with VPN, and create a constant connection between head office and the data center, and allow the other offices to connect via individual vpn connections as needed. Thoughts? Just looking for a general broad overview, or some software recommendations if anyone from experience has a recommendation that is possibly better than the software I had outlined here. I have one of those installed on CentOS 4.6 with 1TB of storage. I'm sharing it between three servers. I can't say how well it works for multi-TB storage, but it works well enough for me at 1TB. Our testing showed reasonable performance. You can get faster shared storage, but you'll be hard pressed to find it cheaper. The linux drivers are readily available from the Coraid website and they compile very easily on CentOS. -- Bowie

Printing to remote usb printer

My networked printer has developed a fault and has to be returned to the manufacturer, so I have to go back to a usb printer attached to my file server. I have tried both the cups page and Mandriva's printerdrake to set this up, so there is the possibility of conflicts introduced by warring tools. I don't recall having to perform somersaults to get this to work before, but it's a major PITA to be so restricted in where I can print, so I'd welcome hints about where to look next. Thanks Anne

What would you recommend for filesystems in the 50-500 terabyte range?
