I've got W2K running in a qemu virtual machine on my current desktop so I'm guessing I can get any older versions of Windows working if I have to. I just can't virtualize an ISA slot if the need arises. A few things hanging around the basement I *won't* part with though as part of this clean up: - A still shrink wrapped copy of Windows/386 (media is 5.25 inch floppies) - A true blue (IBM logo) PC-AT (6 MHz 80286) with a full height 30MB hard drive and 1MB of RAM, DOS 3.3. Also, I've still got at least one punch card from my college days (Ohio State in the late '70s). I usually hang it on my cubicle wall when I'm working a regular gig. new software raid installs

I have noticed that when I do software raid installed (RAID1) that I reboot and one of the first things it says is md1 is not in sync doing background reconstruction... md0 is my /root partition md1 is my /home partition why would md1 not be in sync after an install. Jerry

Xen HVM and tap:aio

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone out there is doing tap:aio disk devices on a Xen HVM vm with any success. Please let me know if you are, and perhaps your version info and a config file snippet. I've posted this to the xen-users list, and what I'm trying to do seems to be correct, works on Ubuntu, Debian, and XenSource; but it doesn't work on CentOS. Here's the snippet from my config. lmsensors support in net-snmp

Hello, I'm wanting to use cacti* to graph my motherboard fan/temperature/voltage readings. I have sensors working and it giving me the temperatures ets, but it seems that net-snmp needs to be compiled with sensors/lmsensors support. Is there a centos 5 rpm for net-snmp that support this? When do you know you need the "-m multiport" option? I see examples with -dport xx:xxx for example that sometimes use it and sometimes don't? I have read the man page and see what "-m multiport" requires, but don't see the requirement involving its use. Thanks! jlc

problem with slave dns servers

Hi, I have 4 bind9 dns installed on centos 4. My primary dns server went down and all of my domains doesn't resolve even if the 3 slave dns is up and running. Hello all! I am trying to make a stripped down CentOS 5.2 distro which will all fit on a single CD containing just the base and a few other packages I need. I've googled and the closest thing I can find to my problem is this: http://osdir.com/ml/redhat.anaconda.devel/2002-07/msg00010.html in that he says the bin dirs are missing also but he says one is a file and I don't have anything named bin there at all. He also gets some different errors as a result of bin being missing it seems. My repository contains (among many others) the following packages which would seem to be relevant: anaconda-11.1.2.113-1.el5.centos.2.x86_64.rpm anaconda-runtime-11.1.2.113-1.el5.centos.2.x86_64.rpm busybox-1.2.0-4.el5.centos.x86_64.rpm busybox-anaconda-1.2.0-4.el5.centos.x86_64.rpm busybox-anaconda-1.2.0-4.el5.centos.x86_64.rpm And while I'm here, another question: What might cause this selinux error which gets generated (as seen above): libsemanage.semanage_install_sandbox: genhomedircon returned error code 1. If I point this same buildinstall command at a CentOS repo that contains all of the rpm's that CentOS normally ships with the build proceeds without error. No missing bin and no selinux error. So I must be missing an rpm. But I'm not sure which one and I need to get this paired down to a single CD so I can't just dump them all in. Problem with gnome with file type recognition.

I have a problem with some file recognition with gnome (CentOS 5.2). I have some DVD with AVI files I burn some time ago (and the files were checked and the DVD are fine), and curiously only the 3 or 4 first files were recognized as AVI files, but the rest not!. I another times, appears to recognize all files, but from some days to now I have this problem (specially with AVI files). The recognized files are played fine with xine, mplayer or vlc, but the rest not, the players don't know how to play them (very courious this issue). Do anyone know how to solve this? Could be any system component that wasn't working fine? (as any daemon, or the DVD reader) Anyone know how to test my DVD writer/reader or any system/gnome components that could be missconfigured or not working? Regards
