Is AMD rev F the same thing as socket F?

Hello: I am looking at the RHEL 5.4 virtualization guide. According to Chapter 17, if I want to use KVM on my machine, I need to check if it has the constant Time Stamp Counter by running this: cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep constant_tsc When I do that on the server (Currently running CentOS 5.3), I do not get any output. According to the output, that means my system does not have the counter. It then gives me instructions for AMD revision F CPUs. I did a search and did not find anything that seems relevant to revision F. The only stuff I am finding is talking about socket F. Is that the same things as a Socket F CPU or something different? Totem needs plug-ins

Just tried to play a movie/DVD and Totem (what automatically popped up when I inserted the DVD) said it needed plug-ins... it didn't say which plug-ins. The website listed in the help page no longer exists. I have four of the gstreamer packages and libdvdcss installed, but I guess there's something more needed. CentOS 5.4 and BitTorrent

If I remember correctly, when version 5.3 was released, about 95% was made available by BitTorrent before the official release date, so that the entire file would be available as soon as possible after the release. Samba/BackupPC under CentOS-5.3

I'm almost completely ignorant about samba on Windows machines, In particular I know nothing about Windows permissions, if that is relevant here. I am running BackupPC on a CentOS-5.3 machine. It works perfectly for backing up Linux folders, but I have great difficulty extending it to Windows clients. To be precise, I have a share called "EA Games D" on a machine running Windows XP Pro. I can access it through Samba: ------------------------------------- m@rose ~]$ sudo mount -t cifs harriet:"EA Games D" /mnt/win Password: [tim@rose ~]$ ls /mnt/win The Sims 2 ------------------------------------- But I do not seem able to back it up with BackupPC . CentOS build scripts (or equivalent) acessible?

Is there indeed such a public repository of the build scriptds / RPM specs used by CentOS? That would indeed be fascinating and useful to have a look at it. (I rebuilt libvirt from RedHat SRPM, just to test the some new virtualization feature of v5.4, and going through the process I kept wondering how the CentOS team is doing it on all the packages!)

iscsi target for C5.x

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to bring up a iSCSI Target on a C5.3+ server ? Various blogs suggest compiling IET from source, but thats not real appealing to me (not that I can't do it, I just don't want to have to support it long term). I looked in rpmforge but didn't see anything.

[off-topic] Build packages in virtual machine

Hi Sorry for the silly question, but is it safe to build packages, like rpms, in virtual machines (virtualbox) and use this packages in real machines? Some of these machines are CentOS and others ares Opensuse. I need to build (or would be very useful to have) Ganglia 3.1.x Thanks Marcelo

Hi, The last status (from twitter) is 2 days old with the '5.4 is baked! centos internal network will start syncing up today. Release ~ soon!'. Any ETA? - Regards.
