2 TB limit on a samba share

I'm running a server with Centos 3 that I have set up a smbfs share to a Buffalo LinkStation. The LS has 4 drives configured with RAID 5. Each disk has 1 TB capacity, so the resulting drive is approximately 2.7 TB. When doing a df, the result shows 2 TB, and no used blocks. Is there some setting I can change so that Centos sees and uses all 2.7 TB or does Centos 3 not support this? Steve Campbell

Centos 5.4 with Rage

I'm trying to install a newly downloaded Centos 5.4 on an older Dell PowerEdge 300. Unfortunately, it came with one of those ATI Rage 2.0 video cards. The install screens show fine, and the initial screen does fine, but once it starts the "firstboot" section, where I'm supposed to select the firewall and such, I get two thirds of the top of the screen and a repeat of the top third on the bottom. Hence I don't get the bottom third where all of the selection buttons are. Anybody have a clue how to get around this? Steve Campbell

CentOS 5.4 logrotate and syslog

Anyone having problems with logrotate and CentOS 5.4? In other words, the new /var/log/maillog isn't created after the logrotate. I have to manually restart syslogd and manually touch /var/log/maillog. Sort logfiles at rotation time

Hi, I want to be certain that my apache and varnish logfiles are in strict date order when rotated. I'd like to run a sort command against them before they're compressed. I've had a look at the logrotate man page, and it looks like I can use a postrotate/endscript to do this. However, I can see any reference in the documentation for how to operate on the file. All the examples seem to take the form of restarting something, or running some other standalone script. What I want to do is run a sort command against the newly rotated file - but how do I know what it is called? Any ideas? S.

Hi, I tried: mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=5.4&arch=x86_64&repo=os but it gives me ...snippel 5.4 is not a valid release or hasnt been released yet/ snappel... Why is that ? -- best regards, markus

Centos as a file storage/backup destination (Advice)

Hello all, am considering setting up centos as a file storage/ backup destination for Mac's TimeMachine. all my users would get synced directly to specific folders on this machine.. needless to say space is of importance. where every user has an average 200 GB of data to b synced (entire system)... I have 27 users hence 27 *200 equals to almost 6 TB so I was considering getting either 4 * 1.5 TB or 6 * 1 TB to be used on one PIV with a 1 GB ethernet. but the thing is, I'm an expert with this! so I'm seeking your help.. is there any other way to do so ? is there any limitation hardware/centos wise for the amount of drives available on a system? is Motherboard available sata/ide slots is the only limitation? how about using a USB hub and plugging them as such? any advice is greatly appreciated thanks and excuse my newbie question. best, Roland
