I've now upgraded a server and a handful of clients with CentOS 5.2 i386. All is spiffy and works really good! Like the new theme too. Thanks guys, good work! Symantec Backup Exec (formerly Veritas) agent

I'm just wondering if anyone else here is using this? The majority of jobs on our CentOS5 server "fail" by "Communications failure" right at the end, apparently on the very last file which, however, is recoverable, as is the whole archive. In more than half these failures, the Linux agent has stopped and, in about half of those, crashes leaving a backtrace. I had similar symptoms in Fedora4 (though much less often) and Fedora9 when the data was on a different server. Symantec have looked at this but they only "support" RHEL and SLES so will not delve deeper. Getting ready for CentOS 5.4

Hi, Since the release of CentOS 5.3 is imminent(?) I'd like to ask a question regarding why did it took so long to be released and, more important, suggest some actions in order to reduce this time if I can assume what caused this delay. First I'd like to make sure I am not complaining about this delay between the RHEL and CentOS releases per se. I did not help in any way to make it happen faster and usually I don't mind having a three weeks gap between them. But I've noticed that we had two security related kernel updates from RHEL since the RHEL 5.3 release and there is no word on when it will be released or why is it taking so long. I can only assume that this delay is caused by lack of the necessary human resources. So, if this is really the case I'd suggest making some sort of campaign to raise money and provide the necessary resources in order to speed things up. If RH maintains the 4-6 month schedule it can happen again in less than three months. If this is not the case as a suggestion please let the community know what's going on. Perhaps an automated email sent to the mailing list with today's status (like 400 packages left to rebase, 20 packages being reviewed by QA etc) would give a sense of progress, let the others know if you hit problems and reduce the anxiety with daily doses of news :) Regards.

I've bandwidth limited my torrent to 400kbyte/s in, 50kbyte/s out and I'm sseeing just about exactly that (my ADSL is good for peak 500-600kbyte/sec in and 70kbyte/sec out, so if I don't restrict it, the torrent activity just about shuts down my network)

Torrent tracker for CentOS v5.3 working properly?

Hi, Is the tracker for the 5.3-release working properly? The only torrent I see actually downloading is CentOS-5.3-i386-bin-1to6. The other three for the i386 DVD and ditto for x86_64 (cd+dvd) are just sitting there. The availability and the number of connected peers in the swarm for each torrent is rather high though. Do torrent downloads work from a single tracker at centos.org, or are those individual trackers depending on what mirror you download the torrent-file from? Replacing my Scalix mail server

I really need to either upgrade my Scalix server or replace it. It has to be: Free Integrated with anti-spam IPv6 support optional anti-virus (processing concerns) I don't have to be able to port mail from the Scalix to the new server. Everyone can just POP their mail. I have read a bit about Zimbra, it comes as a tar for rhel 5. No rpm that I can find. I also found SME, I have a LOT of questions about it, and am asking on their forum board. Anything else out there I should look for?
