I'm having troubles update my system. Error: Missing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.5-34 is needed by package glibc Update stops here. Any idea, how to continue? Jarmo

xen thinks guests exist but not show in list

Hello: I tried to unsuccessfully install a guest on xen. It failed when it tried to connect to the display since I installed the OS without a graphical environment. When I do an xm list, I do not see the guest, but if I try to do virt-install with the same guest name, it tells me the domain already exists. I tried xm delete on the domain but that also tells me the domain does not exist. Any ideas? what requires lm_sensors?

I found that lm_sensors got installed because of a dependency on my first Xen VM that I updated to 5.3. lm_sensors doesn't make sense in a VM. I thought, ok let's check after the update who wants it. However: rpm -q --whatrequires lm_sensors no package requires lm_sensors (same for --triggeredby with lm_sensors or the packages below) Trying to remove lm_sensors reveals these packages: Removing: lm_sensors i386 2.10.7-4.el5 installed 1.8 M Removing for dependencies: cacti noarch 0.8.7d-1.el5.rf installed 5.1 M net-snmp i386 1:5.3.2.2-5.el5 installed 2.8 M net-snmp-utils i386 1:5.3.2.2-5.el5 installed 342 k php-snmp i386 5.1.6-23.el5 installed 24 k But trying to remove any of them doesn't show a dependency on lm_sensors. Having trouble installing flash player on centos 5.3 desktop machine

Hi, I'm having trouble getting the flash player installed onto my centos desktop. When i go to the adobe site, I click on the YUM for Linux version, then install it, and PC says "/tmp/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch-1.rpm is already installed" - but it's not working. So then tried downloading the .tar.gz for linux version, and PC asks me which program to open to install it, and i don't have a clue. Then I try downloading the .rpm version for linux, and my pc says "/tmp/flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-release.i386.rpm is already installed", but it's still not working. What am I doing wrong? company exchange server & exim best practices.

Hi all, I hope this isn't too OT, but since I use a CentOS5.2 + Exim mail server (which is hosted in one of our data centres) I don't think it should be. On of our clients use an MS Exchange 2003 SBS server, with exchange for their internal email. We provide them with a domain, ADSL (which uses dynamic DNS) and POP3 email. They don't have an spam filter program on the exchange server itself due to costs, so I have setup each user on the Exim server, which runs ASSPX for anti-virus / spam filter / etc. Then I setup the SBS 2003 server to pull the email via POP3, but this doesn't seem to work too well, cause the exchange server doesn't always download the POP3 email, and then the users often sit without email until I go there to manually download the mail again. I have tried changing the MX record to point to their DynDNS address, and it works well, but then they get a lot of spam. And the cost of a server-side spam solution is just too expensive, and they also pay for the bandwidth uses when spam comes in. So, I moved their MX record back to the Linux server. But now I sit with the problem of the POP3 connector failing from time to time. So, I would like to know, is there a way to "push" (not forward) mail from the Linux server, after it has arrived and spam been blocked, to another domain, but with the same email address? i.e. the domain in question is attorneys.co.za and I've setup attorneys.dyndns.net as the dynamic domain, but the exchange serves email for attorneys.co.za Forwarding email doesn't work, since there's no such user as bob(a)attorneys.dyndns.net, but rather bob(a)attorneys.co.za. -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers

Apache SSL key pass phrase question

I just set up a secure server. Followed the godaddy instructions for key generation/installation - and the server wanted my pass phrase to start. When I started developing I followed instructions for a self signed cert and everything went dandy. Anyway - after a little googling and an uneasy feeling that I messed up and godaddy might charge me a fee to resubmit for a new cert, I found the following solution - openssl rsa -in secure.shastaherps.key.old -out secure.shastaherps.key After running that and entering my pass phrase, no pass phrase is required to start the server and it seems like the browsers don't complain, so I think I'm set, but I thought I'd verify that all really is well and that doing that isn't going to cause any issues. If I understand it correctly, the phrase was needed when Apache starts in order to decrypt the key, and all I did above was decrypt the key so that apache doesn't have to, correct?
