Bind 9.3.4-10.P1.el5_3.3 check-names and underscores

Updating old CentOS 4 DNS servers to CentOS 5, one of our zones has a number of entries with underscores in. Starting named results in the following error and named refusing to start. masters/example.com.db:33: mail_server.example.com: bad owner name (check-names) I've tried including check-names master ignore; in the options but this isn't making any difference. I've read a lot of debate on whether underscores should be allowed, but for the time being we're stuck with these entries so I need to get this working. Any thoughts? Thanks, jc

Hello, I'm looking for an updated version of rpm itself. The minimum version i need is 4.4.2.3-15.el5.x86_64 though i'd assume anything after that would work as well. Thanks. Dave.

problem installing CentOS 5.3

I did visit the link and found what I interpreted as a replacement iso for the first disk of 4. Did I misinterpret something ? I downloaded disks 2 through 4 from the Ga. Tech mirror and burned them as well, all apparently without error. However, when I attempted to run a media check from "i586 text nousb" the first disk passed but the others resulted in "unable to find install image on /tmp/cdrom" (or something close to that, I am quoting from memory). I looked at the disks and they appear to be OK, and I burned them with the same commands I used for disk 1. Does this mean I needed to gets disks 2 through 4 elsewhere ? Only disk 1 of the set was on the link I visited. Another question, and perhaps I need to google this more but thought I'd ask: On the system I am trying to install this I already have on hda msdos and RH9. I have a large disk on hdc, however, with lots of free space. It appeared that by telling the installation program to use only hdc I could successfully put CentOS there, but when it came time to tell grub what other systems to boot I it recognized dos on hda1, but I could find no way to add RH9 on hda2. It seemed that I was limited to only two operating systems. Is there a way around this ? (If not I intend to physically swap the hard disks and just install on the new hda, keeping stuff on the old hdc for reference). But if it is possible to keep the two existing systems on hda and put CentOS on hdc, and have grub on the mbr of hda control the boot I'd like to do that. Thanks, Buz Davis

Dependency problem between cman and openais with last cman update

Hi. Today I have updated my cluster installation with the version cman-2.0.115-1 through yum update. When I have started the cman service , it fails. If I execute cman_tool debug I get the following error : [CMAN ] CMAN 2.0.115 (built Sep 16 2009 12:28:10) started aisexec: symbol lookup error: /usr/libexec/lcrso/service_cman.lcrso: undefined symbol: openais_shutdown_errorstring_register cman_tool: Cannot open connection to cman, is it running ? My openais version is openais-0.80.3-22.el5_3.9. Their sources don't have that function defined. Searching through Redhat's source tree, I have discovered an openais-0.80.2-1.el5.src.rpm packet. I don't know whether this version belongs to Redhat 5.3 or 5.4 release, but the function openais_shutdown_errorstring_register is defined here. I can return to previous version of cman, but I'd like know whether this problem will be solved for CentOS 5.3 or I'll have to wait for CentOS 5.4 with a new openais version. multipath using defaults rather than multipath.conf contents for some devices (?) - why ?

hi all We have a rh linux server connected to two HP SAN controllers, one an HSV200 (on the way out), the other an HSV400 (on the way in). [snip other HSV200 paths - all similar] multipath -ll -v 3 includes explicit statements that defaults are being used for the HSV400 (long output snipped...) sdaa: path checker = readsector0 (config file default) versus sda: path checker = tur (controller setting) sdx: getprio = NULL (internal default) versus sdd: getprio = /sbin/mpath_prio_alua %n (controller setting) - furthermore we see in the log file messages from both readsector0 *and* tur rather than just tur if the correct settings were used , which also backs that up. My questions are basically - why is it happening , and how to fix it ? The vendor and product regexps definitely do match both "HSP" and both "HSV200" and "HSV400" respectively so it doesn't seem that fiddling with the patterns will work , and I'm sure this config has been tested. Its not due to this server having to deal with two controllers - we have a second server that only mounts from the HSV400, and its multipath settings appear to be entirely the defaults, and not what we have set. (And conversely, its not due to the conf file not being read at all - since the server with two controllers is using the correct config for one of them , but not the other.) thanks for any tips and I will summarise. pkcs#11, openssl, etc

anyone know anything about using openssl 0.9.7b in EL4 w/ pkcs#11 supported smartcard/etokens? I need to figure out how to set this up so a webclient application can use token based certificate with a https connection to the tomcat xmlrpc server with a minimum of fuss. the actual client app is in python but will be using m2Crypto which in turn uses openssl. i CAn find lots on login w/ tokens, and web browser with tokens, but very few clues about doing this with openssl. supposedly the hardware token support was a patch/hack for openssl 0.9.6 and is an available compile option in .7b which is what EL4 uses... I've searched upstream's KB without finding anything useful...

rpm corrupted, ftp server?

Hello, I'm running pure-ftpd 1.21-16 on centos 5.3. A user sent me some files, some rpms and a few patch files. The rpms do not show up right, they record as data rather than rpm or tar or zip or whatever. I am not certain if it's pure-ftpd corrupting these files, the patches showed up empty and i was assured everything was working on the other end, or if the user uploaded binary files in ascii. If the latter can i fix them? If the former any suggestions? Thanks. Dave.

Slow network

Hi, I have problem with a Centos 5.3 computer. The networking is very slow. The networking card is a RealTek 1GigE. I plugged an Ubuntu laptop on the same cable and port with an Intel GigE, and it's about 8 to 10 times faster. So the problem is likely to be with the CentOS config. Any suggestion on how to track down the problem with speed. I have checked the packets with wireshark, no problem.
