Hi, I am running 32-bit Firefox-3.5.3 on Centos-5.3 (64-bit kernel) on a Dell Precision M65 laptop. This is likely a Adobe problem, but maybe someone else has seen this before. Please CC me, as I only receive the digest version of the list. When using the 10.0.32.18-release version of the flash-plugin, trying to access *any* page containing flash (e.g. www.adobe.com) causes the browser to die. This also happens with version 10.0.22.87. Opinions on bonding modes?

I am working on setting up an NFS server, which will mainly serve files to web servers, and I want to setup two bonds. I have a question regarding *which* bonding mode to use. None of the documentation I have read suggests any mode is "better" than other with the exception of specific use cases (e.g. switch does not support 802.3ad, active-backup). Since my switch *does* support 802.3ad, including layers 2,3 and 4 hashing, should I use mode=4? Or would one of the other modes be "better" for … [View More]

Persisting module loading

Greetings! I have loaded a few modules: modprobe ip_nat_ftp modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp And now I'd like to persist those so they're loaded when the system boots up. I'm doing this by means of calling a specific script from /etc/rc.d/rc.local but I believe there must be something cleaner than that, like another existing file. Repair Filesystem prompt , after inode has illegal blocks

hi All, A fault on our SAN dropped us down to a read-only filesystem and after reboot, we have an "Unexpected Inconsistency" and I am being instructed by the boot to run fsck manually without -a or -p (this was after I think processing around 15% of the filesystem) The specific message is "inode 27344909 has illegal blocks" I recall running fsck some years ago on smaller and simpler systems - am broadly familiar with what it is but have no expertise in using it to repair a filesystem. … [View More]

Problems setting terminal size in termcap/xterm

Hi I'm trying to set the terminal size in /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm, but it seems that CentOS doesn't look at this file. I know this works in REHL 4.7 and Fedora 10, 11. Does anyone know a work around to this? Thanks Marcelo

abnormal freezes

Hi, I'm having a linux box running with Centos 5.3 x86 (kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen) which is freezing time to time and can't login neither trough console. The only thing what I can do, to pass the situation is to power off/on the pc. The pc is used only as a torrent server running with transmission 1.74. Dear All, Currently working setup is CentOS4.4 Linux I tried to google-out, but i can't able to findout I need some clarification about CD writer support 1. How can i findout inserted disc is CD or DVD from command line 2. How can i findout inserted disc is empty from command line 3. hi All, Re below - thanks for the replies to the fsck question. I have run fsck -r /data and this eventually completed with several changes made. Now I am getting the following error from the qla2xxx driver on boot . . . qla2xxx 0000:05:0d.0: Mailbox command timeout occured. It looks like some administration of the HSV controlled SAN device layer itself is required - we are now not … [View More]even getting the boot process as far as the filesystem layer. (Anybody know exactly what that message indicates - e.g. whether a hardware fault or HSV SAN config issue ?) googling this , somebody suggested a media scan from my storage array firmware, then backing up the array and reinitializing logical disks and started fresh....however if anybody has some more specific info than that, that would be great.
