I have not tried them personally since I have enough ports for now. However, this is probably the one I try when I run out unless someone else comes back with something better. :-) -- Steve

Hello, I've been asked to recruit a Linux Systems Administrator for one of our clients. They're based in London, but I know many folk who commute from Hampshire, so here's the spec: Job: Systems Administrator Company: Wordtracker Location: Kentish Town, London, NW5 (excellent transport) Salary: £45K Culture: No tie. THE COMPANY Wordtracker is a small company of around 15 people and our offices are based in Kentish Town, London. Roughly half of the people are developers mainly using: PHP, Ruby (and Ruby on Rails) and agile development. We specialise in: keywords, data analysis, mining and extracting meaning out of online data. Our primary product is the keyword research tool, Wordtracker (http://www.wordtracker.com), which has been serving keywords to customers for over 10 years (since 1998). cups-lpd job settings

Does someone know, how to configure cups lpd job options. My xinet.d config looks like this: # default: off # description: Allow applications using the legacy lpd protocol to communicate w ith CUPS service printer { disable = no socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = lp server = /usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-lpd server_args = -o job-sheets=none,none -o cpi=12 } The problem is, that it cups ignores the second option under server_args. I checked the documentation and googled quite a lot, but I couldn't find an example with more then one option. BR Janez

Anyone done this w/ Linux before? Not having ever used this functionality, I can only speculate but I have been asked to setup an MFP such that when you scan to email, it hits a postfix instance which rewrites the email (so it can be typed short) and sends it on to our email-fax service. It seemed simple, so long as I get an MFP that supports emailing from its console as all the cheap mfps's I know of require some lame app that usually only runs on windows. It all seems simple enough, pending I get the appropriate mfp? Anyone done this with an Ethernet based unit that can share an opinion? The postfix rewriting part seems simple enough! Thanks! jlc

I can wait, I just have a project coming up and am planning. I remember seeing a post a couple of weeks back that RedHat 5.4 was released and at that time a couple of weeks was thrown out for Centos 5.4 being released. Are we still on schedule? Thank you,, John Plemons

Removing xorg stuff

Starting to clean out my server. I use command line only. Even though I tried not to install the gnome and x, a lot of stuff did install anyway. In testing the removal process I find I cannot use yum remove due to losing to many programs due to dependency. Trying to remove via rpm -e is nigh impossible as it appears to be an unknown chain of dependencies separate from the ones using yum that block any way of deleting it. I am thinking to do a rpm -e and then trying to take out all the dependent ones.. However..I am not sure about taking out X since so many items were installed with the system and maybe some are needed? It is obvious that I need to do one or a few files at a time since I can find no way to take out the whole xorg package as of yet. My big fear....is X needed in some way by my server in ways I do not know? I use it as a webserver and shell in with no graphic interface stuff except those like system-level-security and such... No many x installed items deal with lvm and such...scary

CentOS With Windows Networks

Am pretty new to CentOS and linux. I am trying to be able to share network drives and connect to a windows workgroup with CentOS. Machines are as follows. Workgroup has been changed from WorkGroup or MSHome to my own setting All of the client machines are formatted with NTFS Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 2000 Linux CentOS Iomega Network Drive (nas)
