VMWare server 2

Hi All, I have installed VMWare 2.0.2-203138_x64 on a CentOS 5.4 x64. Everything appears to work fine. I can create the virtual machine but when I power it on the whole vmware web access is unreachable on default port 8222/8333. [root@Panda]# uname -a Linux Panda 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5 #1 SMP Thu Jan 7 19:54:26 EST 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Does anybody know if there is a compatibility problem with the new kernel 2.6.180164.10.1 ? [root@Panda vmware-server-distrib]# /usr/bin/vmware @@PRODUCT_NAME@@ is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured for the running kernel. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command: /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so have you found a fix? Hi Appologies I have not been following the thread here so am just wondering if you have a MSA, EVA, XP left hand san or if this is just storage that sits on the server with samba share? also what link is between fc or ethernet. That thing will be hosting the school's vle. Looks like I better memorize the after hours password for HP support. What problems did you have? Do they occur mostly when the boxes are under high I/O load? Raising ftp priority?

Dear All I need to ftp all of the files & folders of CentOS 5 server through WS_FTP . But it just lets for /home/www user login , but not root user . As I want to see and have all of files , can you please let me know how can I raise the ftp priority such that WS_FTP can login as root user . Thank you

rsync optimization

Hi, We currently have upload servers in one data center(A), and users upload the images there. We have storage server in another data center(B). When users upload many images at the same time, we face sync difficulties. On B, we use rsync in server mode, with authentication. On A, we use `rsync -azpogtRv --safe-links 1/ rsync://user@serverB/img/ --password-file=/var/www/r.passwd ` Both ends run centos 5.3 X86_64. Any suggestions to optimize rsync in this case? Help finding the X man page.

I would like to tweak the way my gnome-terminals are coming up and the `man gnome-terminal` refers me to the "X" man page (specifically for --geometry). Although I have found what is probably an adequate version on line[1] (from the x.org folks no less), I would like to have the man page from CentOS ON my system. my yum foo is not doing so well... $ yum whatprovides \*/man7\*/X\*gz Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, security No Matches found and $ yum whatprovides \*/man\*/X\*gz ... is a bit overwhelming and did not seem to have what I was looking for. further gentle clue-by-four available? Hi all, does anyone know where I can download kernel-xen- 2.6.18-164.el5 for CentOS 5? I can't install it with yum, since yum has a much newer version already. Laptop for CentOS-5

I have a defective HP-Compaq nx9420 and so I am looking to replace it. I have pretty much decided to buy no further MicroSoft based products and would very much like to hear recommendations for a suitable notebook host to provide me with Linux based alternative. Given that all the basic functionality required is provided, the main thing that I am looking for is reliability of the host itself. I do a deal of traveling so physical robustness is an issue. But I also use my notebook for hours at a time, generally every day. This means that I am typically on a/c current rather than batteries and that power regulation and heat dissipation are also concerns. The power regulator circuit is in fact what I believe has failed on the nx9420. Not infrequently I have the notebook on my chest or lap while working at home. So the ventilation clearances provided by a flat desk support are frequently absent and the notebook design must accommodate this. I would like to use CentOs as this is what I am most familiar with. But, I am open to CentOS alternatives like Ubuntu or even a non-Linux alternative like a PowerMac with OS-X. I have already looked at the Dell site on the basis of a friends recommendation. While Dell mentions Ubuntu is available for some of their notebook computers they do not seem to provide any way to actually configure a system with it. So, my desires are: WANT: Robust construction Reliable quality Reasonable weight (< 2.5 kg all in) Supported sound and video reproduction of reasonable quality 15-17" lcd screen Out-of-the-box support for wireless networking Battery life > 2.0 hrs.
