I have CentOS5.5 installed in the system. After updating the version of firefox, the videos are playing on the internet. Earlier the message "flash player download required" used to come.

What NAS device(s) do you use? And why?

If you use any NAS (or a SAN) devices, what do you use? And I'm referring more to larger scale network storage than your home PC or home theater system. We've had very good experiences with our NetGear ReadyNAS devices but I'm in the market for something new. The NetGear's aren't the cheapest ones around but they do what it says on the box. My only real gripe with them is the lack of decent scalability. TheCus devices seems to be rather powerful as well, and you can stack upto 5 units together. But that's where the line stops. I'm now looking for something that could scale beyond 100TB on one device (not necessarily one unit though) and find it frustrating that most NAS's come in 1U or 2U at most. Maybe I'm just not shopping around enough, or maybe I prefer to well known brands, I don't know. So, what do you use? How well does it work for you? Installing GDChart fails: pecl/gdchart requires PHP extension "gd"

Hello, has anybody solved the problem of installing GDChart on CentOS 5.5 (I've tried both 32 and 64 bit versions)? I have: # rpm -qa | grep -i php php-pear-1.4.9-6.el5 php-gd-5.1.6-27.el5 php-ldap-5.1.6-27.el5 php-pgsql-5.1.6-27.el5 php-5.1.6-27.el5 php-pdo-5.1.6-27.el5 php-common-5.1.6-27.el5 php-cli-5.1.6-27.el5 php-devel-5.1.6-27.el5 And the "pecl" seems to find GDChart in its repository: # sudo pecl search GDChart Retrieving data...0%....50%....Matched packages, channel pecl.php.net: ======================================= Package Stable/(Latest) Local GDChart -n/a-/(0.2.0 beta) GDChart Based Graphing Interface But installing it fails: # sudo pecl install GDChart Failed to download pecl/GDChart within preferred state "stable", latest release is version 0.2.0, stability "beta", use "channel://pecl.php.net/GDChart-0.2.0" to install Cannot initialize 'GDChart', invalid or missing package file Package "GDChart" is not valid install failed Ok, then I try the suggested "URL": # sudo pecl install "channel://pecl.php.net/GDChart-0.2.0" pecl/gdchart requires PHP extension "gd" No valid packages found install failed But I do have both "gd" and "php-gd" rpms installed and enabled: # cat /etc/php.d/gd.ini ; Enable gd extension module extension=gd.so Any suggestions please? "ultimate" backup choice

i have: "SERVER A" "SERVER B" with "full root permisson" [ssh, etc] each server has a folder. i want to backup a folder in "SERVER A". are there any backup methods, that meets these two requirements? : 1) running from e.g.: a cronjob 2) when running, it just checks the folder in "SERVER A" and "SERVER B". if a file/folder has been added/removed/modified in the "SERVER A"'s folder, then it copies/removes it/them to "SERVER B"'s folder. please help! Howto batch sign RPM packages?

Hi, I need to sign a bunch of RPM packages that have interdepencies: build #1, sign #1, install #1, build #2, sign #2, install #2 etc. Based on the info in bz436812 [1] I have created the key (RSA sign only, 4096bit, no sub keys) and put this in .rpmmacros: %_signature gpg %_gpg_path ~/.gnupg %_gpg_name <KEY_ID> %__gpg_sign_cmd %{__gpg} gpg --force-v3-sigs \ --digest-algo=sha1 --batch --no-verbose --no-armor \ --passphrase-fd 3 --no-secmem-warning -u "%{_gpg_name}" \ -sbo %{__signature_filename} %{__plaintext_filename} Now I don't want to type in a rather long and difficult passphrase every time one of dozens of packages need to be signed and I also don't want to temporarily remove the passphrase so am looking for a better solution that works unattended after giving the passphrase once. I looked at gpgwrap (part of pgp-tools in Fedora) but from the docs I could not figure out how to make that work. Anyone know howto set this up? Thanks! i can use "natively" openssl for anonymous chat: # Chat: # server side: openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:8192 -keyout mycert.pem -out mycert.pem # server side - generate a self-signed cert. openssl s_server -accept 52310 -cert mycert.pem # client side - "127.0.0.1" is the IP of the server openssl s_client -connect 127.0.0.1:52310 1) but how can i set it to require username/password? it would be a great chat tool 2) how can i transfer files with openssl? [again: with username/password?] thank you for any ideas :\ p.s.: or it will be a firewall rule, to restrict to ip addresses in a list? those, who are only allowed to connect..

fuse-ntfs-3g

After installing kmod-fuse rpm, I had given "/dev/sda3 /mnt/win ntfs rw,umask=0000,defaults" in the file /etc/fstab. Then I gave mount /mnt/win. But I couldn't copy files from system to the hard disk so I removed kmod-fuse by rpm -e command. I installed fuse-ntfs-3g rpm. Now what are the changes that have to be made on the file /etc/fstab?

/bin/env

Please forgive my ignorance but I need a explanation of how to accomplish the following since I cannot figure it out from the documents. I have a Ruby script with a shebang line that looks like this: #!/usr/bin/env ruby On one particular host I have two Ruby interpreters installed; one the CentOS base version 1.8.6 in /usr/bin/ruby the other version 1.8.7 in /usr/local/bin/ruby. In my shell the which command finds /usr/local/bin/ruby. In a cron job the /usr/bin/ruby is used by the /bin/env invocation. My question is: How does one configure /bin/env to return the /usr/local/bin/ruby version? or does that question even make sense? I have looked at the alternatives command but that seems just a tad involved. And since this is a production server I am not quite ready to trust to RVM either. In the short term I have simply removed the CentOS version which has resolved the immediate issue.
