Problem in gdb

Dear All, We are running RHEL4 Update 4 AS IA-64 on a HP rx6600. We are running programs compiled in RHEL4 Update 4 AS in i386 architecture using the emul library(Intel IA-32 Execution Layer ) [admin@corviewsecondary ~]$ service ia32el status Intel IA-32 Execution Layer in use When we attempt to run a program using /usr/bin/gdb we are not able to hit the break point set. How to run a i386 compiled program in IA64 bit environment using gdb and be able to hit break points? 2.How do we catch a running process in gdb and apply a breakpoint in our setup. HP Proliant ML150 : how do I access disks ?

Hi, Up until now, I've only installed Linux either on "desktop" hardware, meaning one of the desktop PCs in the LAN acted as a server machine for the network, or I rented some dedicated server somewhere in a datacenter. Last week I bought some server hardware, a used HP Proliant ML150. It's the first time I am dealing with this sort of hardware. The hardware was sold "as is", without any warranty. When I open the front cache, there are six small "drawers", and the bottom two of them each contain a 72 GB hard disk. I inserted a CentOS 5.4 install CD (1 of 6), and the installer (linux text) booted correctly. But when it comes to partitioning, it "sees" no disk. Unlike the usual desktop hardware, there seems to be a myriad of configuration options, and I'm a bit lost here. So first things first. How do I configure this machine so the CentOS installer can actually recognize my two inserted hard disks as such : say, sda and sdb or similarly ? Any suggestions ? Niki Kovacs

x86_64 package mess ?

Hi, I just installed CentOS 5.4 on a 64bit-server. It's the first time I work with this sort of hardware. Doing rpm -qa | sort | less shows that most of the packages seem to be installed twice: once for i386 architecture, and then again for x86_64. Is this normal? Or did I mess up something during install (thought I wouldn't know what)? Niki

I'm finally biting the bullet, and replacing the 12-yr-old box that's been my firewall/router with an appliance. First, does anyone have any idea whether the WRT160 nl can use tomato? Second, is there any way, or any reason, I could/would want to run bastille against the firmware? mark

processor affinity

Hello, i am running CentOS 5.4. i have a requirement where i need to have 1 application have a single processor all to its self, and the rest of the system run on the other processors. "taskman" lets me bind the process to a processor(s), but it does not make it exclusive. Is this possible to do? i have even tried mucking around with the rc.sysinit, but to no avail. thank you very much, -=- adam grossman

annoying random Firefox crash - how to debug?

Hi, My firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091216 Fedora/3.5.6-1.fc11 Firefox/3.5.6) on Gnome 2.26.3 will randomly crash, without any errors. /var/log/messages & /var/log/Xorg.0.log doesn't show anything that caused any errors. And it doesn't matter on which website(s) I'm busy with, it will just crash. Does anyone know how to check for a problem? My PC has: Intel Pentium(R) Dual-Core E5200 CPU 4GB DDRII Corsair RAM 3x 160GB SATAII HDD Asus Nvidia 8800GT graphics card. udp stream multiply

Hello, Not strictly a CentOS question, but I hope someone can hint me in the right direction ... I have an incoming udp data stream to public interface that I want to duplicate and multipy to three or more destinations on the internal interface. Currently I've managed to put together netcat listener with output to pipe and socat reading from that pipe to a single destination. I hoped I could have more than one socat reader from the pipe, but that does not seem to be the case. So I'm able to only redirect stream to a single destination on lan. I'd also like to avoid this mess of shell tools and pipes and am looking for a cleaner solution. Any hints? -- Jure Pečar http://jure.pecar.org

Clustering apache

I'm a greenhorn when it comes to clustering in RHEL/CentOS and recently setup an active/standby clustering using Apache & Heartbeat. It seems to be a good entry step into clustering however after testing it I was disappointed in that the resource manager does not start httpd on node2 if httpd on node1 is dead (only starts httpd on node2 if the heartbeat daemon on node1 is dead). Is there anyway to achieve this setup if not with Heartbeat with some sort of other HA solution? Thank you! Dan
