change network switch need 'arp" clear cache?

we plan to change network switch and firewall machine to new one. Network engineer told me after switch and firewall equipment change I may need run 'arp ..." to clear out cache on every CENTOS servers due to switch and firewall MAC address change. we have 30 to 40 CENTOS 4.X and 5.X my affect. my question are: 1. does switch and firewall equipment change need LINUX client clear cache? 2. if needed, how to clear cache and get new info about switch and firewall?

boot.log no message on CENTOS 5.X?

I found CENTOS 5.X boot.log is empty but CENTOS 4.X it does have messages in it. cd /var/log # ls -al boot* -rw------- 1 root root 0 Feb 21 04:02 boot.log -rw------- 1 root root 0 Feb 14 04:02 boot.log.1 -rw------- 1 root root 0 Feb 7 04:02 boot.log.2 -rw------- 1 root root 0 Jan 31 04:02 boot.log.3 -rw------- 1 root root 0 Jan 24 04:02 boot.log.4 Does anyone know how to setup boot.log include boot message on CENTOS 5.X? Thanks.

Googling this (specifically the nvidia-bug-report line below) doesn't find anything. This is a server (console is text only, no GUI), so we may not need x11 nor nvidia, I dunno for sure. Don't forget to use torrents for your downloads!

For those who may forget, usin torrents to download and share the new images will get you faster downloads (if enough folks participate) if you have a "fat" pipe and alleviate the load on the CentOS servers. I have a "chubby" pipe (~ 1.2MB/sec) and got the stuff really quickly earlier today. If your torrent has distributed hash table capability, I suggest that you also use that feature. eSATA drive enclosure of a full PC?

HI All, I have a dilemma and I would appreciate advice 1. Get a good size case, mobo, processor, etc and put 8 hard drives it in and RAID them. (yes an 8 port SATA mobo). Running CentOS. or 2. Get an eSATA enclosure that has room for 8 or 10 drives and just connect it to box? I know that RAID is not a full proof backup, but I am looking for a solution to store all of my data, projects, music, etc, etc Can I get thoughts for ideas for solutions? Thank You -Jason
