fuse filesystem mount issue

Hi! I'm using the ntfs-3g module for my portable USB hard drive on Centos 5.4. When I plug it into my centos box it mounts fine, but its owned by root and nobody but root has permission to write to it. I've been perusing the ntfs-3g and fuse man pages (and other docs) and they all seem to say that the default settings should be to allow RW access to everyone. but that isn't what I'm getting. Mount says this: /dev/sdd1 on /media/SeagateUSB type fuseblk (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096) but right-click/properties on the desktop icon shows no write permission if yer not root: onwer: root, group: root, and all the "folder access" lines are greyed out. How would one approach solving this problem? Unable to remove interface (5.4)

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 So here is my problem: I'm unable to remove an interface on CentOS 5.4 (/etc/init.d/network restart keeps enabling it again) Background: The system had several interfaces set (eth0 eth0.6 eth0.7 eth0.8) 1.) I added a test interface...eth0.9 2.) but later deleted the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.9 file (since i no longer needed it) 3.) I then did ifconfig eth0.9 down 4.) I then setup eth0.7 with the same IP address settings that eth0.9 had. 5.) Upon a restart of /etc/init.d/network all the interfaces come up including eth0.9 This obviously causes a problem...are there any recommendations how to remove this "deleted" interface? Many thanks! Whether need to run CentOS Certification test suite to get the CentOS logo

Howdy, I have searched related information on the CentOS website, and only get the answer "Except for CentOS CD/DVD ISOs, you may not use CentOS logos on merchandise without an individual agreement with the CentOS Project.We need to approve the use of the logos and will require that you donate a percentage of your total sales on items using the CentOS logos in this manner". But I'm still not sure whether CentOS have certification test suite and we need to run it first, such as we can get Redhat "hardware certified logo" if we pass the RedHat Certification test suite,eg V7. How can I access a ZIP file that's over 2Gb?

I have a zip file. It is over 2Gb in size: -rw-r--r-- 1 sweh sweh 2383956582 Mar 13 13:44 test.zip The standard "unzip" program barfs: % unzip -l test.zip Archive: test.zip End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of test.zip or test.zip.zip, and cannot find test.zip.ZIP, period. This is because the info-zip utilities can't handle ZIP files over 2Gb in size. Windows can access it just fine. Anyone have any recommendations on a unix tool that'll let me access these large files? -- rgds Stephen

mailman and postfix on CentOS

Hello, I'm trying to get postfix and mailman going on CentOS 5.4. I had this working previously, six to eight months ago, and shut it down since the need for use was no longer there. I've now reactivated mailman and set up a list. The software versions I'm using are httpd 2.2.14, postfix 2.3.3, and mailman 2.1.9. All the services are started, the list is created, and email is sent to the list owner. The problem is reply addresses for subscriptions are being sent to mailman(a)domain.com rather than mailman(a)lists.domain.com as i want. In the email all the email addresses point to mailman(a)lists.domain.com except for the reply to header that goes to as i said mailman(a)domain.com. The lists.domain.com is a subdomain dedicated to the mailing list.The mailman newlist command correctly creates list aliases in /etc/mailman/aliases file. Any ideas? Thanks. Dave.

Burning data cd in CentOS?

Dear All I need to burn data cd on my CentOS and open the pdf file on my MS Windows client . My cd drive is at /dev/cdrom that is mounted as /mnt/cdrom . To this end , I issued as the following : #cdrecord -v dev=/dev/cdrom myfile But the file cannot be opened on ms MS Windows , nor the cd is usable afterwards . Can you please let me know how can I burn this data cd ? Thank you

Tomcat 5.23 help - http://hostname:8080 is an empty page.

I installed tomcat 5.23 from the yum install of centos5.3 and have started tomcat on port 8080 . The http://hostname:8080 shows a blank page. In a standard Tomcat distribution, the default application is located in the ROOT directory /var/lib/tomcat5/webapps: From centos installation, this directory is empty. Please help us to bring up the apache-tomcat installation page. tomcat5.conf has the following settings CATALINA_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat5" JASPER_HOME="/usr/share/tomcat5" CATALINA_TMPDIR="/usr/share/tomcat5/temp" JAVA_ENDORSED_DIRS="/usr/share/tomcat5/common/endorsed" I see the following in /usr/share/tomcat5 after installtion. Get VNCserver to only listen on a particular IP address

Hi, Does anyone know if possible to get vncserver to only listen on one particular Ip address? Have two network interfaces (public + private) and just want the vncserver to listen on the private IP address 192.168.10 for example Thanks Keith
