Convert DHCP to static during kickstart

Hi all. is there an easy way to kickstart a system using DHCP, but then use the obtained settings to define static network configurations on the installed system? Best Regards Marcus

Samsung f3 hd502hj and Centos 5.4

Not sure if anyone has seen this probably not but thought that I would throw it out there, running centos 5.4 on a tyan s4985 and I wanted to add a hot swap drive cage to it so I added a supermicro cage and bought some drives, not wanting raid but something for storage and rsync backups. Well I decided to buy some of the newer samsung F3 hd502hj 500Gig hard drives, supposedly good performance for the price since they didnt have enough of them I bought some WD black 500G drives also. Well when I got everything back together I noticed that I was getting errors when centos was first trying to boot, the error was Comreset -16 sata1.... wash and repeat 4 times, then it did it a second time, finally it would time out and and start to boot. Once booted it did not see the 2 samsung drives but saw all of the other drives, didn't matter what channel etc...whether it was in the drive cage or not. I orginally thought it was the bios of the tyan board, which is bad, but to no avail. I finally booted one of the newer buntu livecd and all drives were picked up, so i wonder if it is a kernel issue..if anyone has any ideas or would like more info please let me know....other wise I will need to swap/sell some drives....Thanks. upgrading 32-bit installation to 64-bit

Hi! I've got a 32-bit Centos installed on an AMD Phenom II X2 processor and I'm interested ni making it 64 bit instead. But I'd sure like to avoid having to go back thru the whole installation again... in part because I've got sotware RAID set up and I'm assuming that I can't do a fresh install into it without having to re-configure the whole thing. So, is it possible (and practical) to upgrade a 32 bit system to 64? is it possible to recover LVM drive from accidental Fdisk?

Hi all, Does anyone know if it's possible to recover an LVM partition from a drive that was fdisked? I accidently fdisk'd the wrong drive (had to fdisk a lot of 160GB drivers from old servers and one still has important data on that client now wants) by running fdisk /dev/sdc & deleting the partitions. upgrading a wordpress install

Hello, I'm running wordpress via rpm on centos 5.4 i believe it is. There's a new version out v .92 and am wanting to upgrade to it. I'm trying the automatic install and am being prompted for credentials. Googling shows this is most likely a permissions problem. I was wondering what the right permissions were to allow automatic upgrades of wordpress, plugins, and/or themes? Thanks. Dave.

BMC IPMI configuration on centos 5.4 64 BIT Server

Hi all, I am implementing two node cluster , but the hardware they given me contains only the Base Board Management controller (BMC) . Also I HEARD SOME BMC wont support power fencing, how can i check my There is no management port like HP ILO or Dell DRAC for cluster fencing . This hardware belongs to the vendor HCL. For BMC Configuration they are providing the exe setup file for windows to configure IPMI ip,usernmae and password but there is no setup tools for centos 5. So i want help from some one in configuring the IPMI from Operating system level from OpenIpmi tools. if some one provide me the step by step instruction or how to in configuring the IPMI to use fence_ipmi on centos 5.4 x86_64 hardware . Really its very urgent i have to handover the server in next 12 hours. SNI Apache

Hello, Anyone knows a repository with apache + mod_ssl + openssl + (other openssl programs) with SNI support. I have tried someone but obtain brutal production server crash, because (now!!! Define an alias with an embeded awk command error ?

Hi, guys: I'm trying to define an alias in .cshrc with the embeded awk command, like this : alias checketh0 "ip add ls eth0 |awk '/inet/{print $2}' |sed -n '1p' " Then i run "source ~/.cshrc" and run "checketh0" command in the terminal , but the result is the following : " inet 192.168.18.18/24 brd 192.168.18.255 scope global eth0" but i want this result : 192.168.18.18/24 How do I do it ? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks for you help ~
