metafont on CentOS 5?

Can someone hit me with the appropriate clue-by-4? is there an available package for CentOS5 which provides the metafont command, or a replacement? What is the name and which repo? please. I have a font bundle I need to use (which is not provided in an RPM that I can find), but metafont does not seem to be available. tetex provides the /usr/share/texmf/metafont directory structure, but not a */bin/metafont... Anyone Having Any Luck Downloaing the DVD ISO?

I've been trying for 2 weeks to download the dvd iso torrent... Shows a ton of seeders, few leechers, but very poor performance.. (I'm correctly setup for torrents and get fast downloads normally) Only like 4% downloaded and crawling. I've tried the trackers from every one of the mirror sites. I can't use the net install because the systems I am installing are on a closed network. Anyone have any ideas where else to get this or any suggestions? Thx, R

Wrapper package / yum repository

Hi, I am setting up a yum repository for our applications and I am having a bit of trouble. I copy the files to a webserver, run createrepo and then configure the servers to use it. One of the RPMs is a "release" package that includes exact versions of all the binary and configuration files as dependencies so we can do "packaged releases" and, if we want to revert to a previous version, we can force it by installing this package (and the yum-downgrade plugin). The issue I am having is that RPM/yum seems to be unable to correctly resolve the dependencies: If I do "yum install adm-release" I get errors about lots of missing dependencies. memcached - epel vs. rpmforge?

Does anyone know how the epel and rpmforge packages for memcached differ? I installed the rpmforge version some time ago before epel had it and now it looks like there are some conflicts in dependencies. Update to base release

Hello All, We have some machines running CentOS 4 Update 4 (4.4). We want to update these boxes to the stock CentOS 4 Update 8 (4.8). We have the 4.8 iso images. Is it possible to use up2date and have it use the 4.8 mounted iso images on a remote (install) server as the repository? The ISO's are accessible through http. These servers are remote with no CD/DVD option to upgrade that way. I have tried to Google this but can't seem to quite hit what I need. I found one that shows up2date-config GUI setup but I do not have X running on this server and do not want to screw up the config with the CLI version of it. We need to go to stock versions to match our production RHEL 4.8 machines. Thanks, John -- John Kennedy

NFS v4 on Centos and "Cannot allocate memory"

Hi all, I have a Centos server exporting a filesystem via NFSv4 and from my Ubuntu desktop I can mount it specifying the nfs version as 4 fine and read/write data. >From another Centos system trying to mount this exported filesystem results in "mount.nfs4: Cannot allocate memory" every time. Been banging my head against the wall for a while now... Anyone have any ideas? James

Suggestion on Share folder

Hi all, I need some advise on how best manage a share folder. We have a 2TB samba share. Inside there is individual user sub-folder, and also there are team's folders. We use one shared account for all users. The problem is: The user abuse the space usage. My thought: - Implement quota for each user. - But the implication is each user must have their own account and this potentially gives additional hassle when someone forgets the password. Anyone has similar experience? Much appreciated for the thoughts. Thank you.

screen saver crash

My screen saver crash both in gnome and kde X windows when open the screen saver. I guess that some package needed is not installed. I reinstall the gnome-screen but it still crashs. How can I check which package is not installed?

trouble mounting NFS share in net install

I am trying to install the net install version of 5.5 from an NFS share that I setup with freenas. I have fully functioning DNS (hosted on freebsd) and can mount the iso share on another centos box with the command mount nas.mydomain.com:/mnt/iso1 /mnt/iso1 on that machine. The nas host in question is a freenas which I believe is NFS 4. I can / will verify if someone would care to respond to this thread. but when I go to do the same thing in the centos net install I get an error stating simply: "that directory cannot be mounted from the server". in the settings I have the following values: NFS server name: nas.example.com CentOS directory: /mnt/iso1 NFS mount options (optional): I have also tried it by ip just to be sure: NFS server name: 192.168.1.250 CentOS directory: /mnt/iso1 NFS mount options (optional): Does anyone have any suggestions that can help me get going?
